Creating white characters as villains is woke? White people should be heroes and if they are villains then is it woke? ?

I just saw a video where a guy said it was woke to create white villains, mostly white men. So if I want to create a story, should I make black, Asian or indigenous people the villain?

I disagree with the premise; it's usually the portrayal and handling of the main protagonist rather than the villain that defines a "woke" movie and more often the messaging rammed into the story itself, though I do know that at least a few non-white actors are vocally pissed that they're basically being kept from playing villains out of writers' and directors' fear of being accused of racism.

Write a story in which the heroes and villains' interactions make sense, and if it's a work of fiction or fantasy, don't try to parallel modern politics. Entertainment should be escapism; not propaganda.

It is complicated. Some people are calling anything a "woke". I don't know if they call everything "woke" because they are not very intelligent or if they simply have a prejudice and call it "woke" not to say what they really think. For example, it is common to see Japanese animations with only Japanese and white characters, and practically nobody questions this, in fact, it shouldn't even be questioned, because the creator creates whatever he wants the way he wants, but if I make an anime with only black characters in a fictional world, I'm sure they would call me "woke". They demand ridiculous and idiotic explanations for the characters to be black, while Asian and white characters exist because the author simply wanted them to.

No. You should just disregard the idiots complaining about this. What's "woke" is worrying about the race of the villains you intend to create. Don't even worry about it. If the villain in your mind was a white guy... then make him a white guy! It's silly to specifically change the race of your characters in an attempt to be (or for fear of being) woke.

I always like the bad guys in movies , make him white if he’s white in your head. The color makes no difference. What’s woke would be to put importance on the color in the first place
