You may have seen, or used, one of these when you were younger.
Do you know what it is?

I've always wondered why we've never seen "adult" View-Master slides.

A kaleidoscope. I think those came out before my generation, but I've seen them before. It's basically a camera with film taking by someone else. You insert the film cartridge and look through the peephole and can see different pictures of different places, like the ocean, Paris, New York City, Washington D. C, different types of animals, and other things.
Those have been around for over 200 years. A physicist invented those sometime in the early 1800s. I do a lot of reading, and I remember reading about those somewhere.
You have the right idea but it's not a kaleidoscope, which is a cylinder that you look through and see colorful patterns caused by mirrors. Stereoscopes were invented centuries ago. This is a modern version of one.
It's a view master.
Here's it's history:

Omg yes I remember those
I loved mine when I was a kid. I think mine was this color
I sure do, I don't know what it's called though.
It's a picture viewing device.
The white wheels have still pictures on them, that's what those dark panels are, you put one in the slot in the top of the red thing and then look into the viewing ports like you would with a pair of binoculars and you will see the picture, the wheel can be rotated by pulling the lever and you will see the next image.
Yes I remember seeing those way back when I was a kid but I think they were on their way out even then.
veiwmaster, the little discs have pics, you click like a silent movie, yeah i got older brothers late 40s lol thats how i know
A 3D slide show toy
My grand parants had it, loved it as a young girl was real fantastic and they had them in many shapes and types
I had one. The first week I enjoyed the pictures.
The second week I figured that it's more useful when I whack it onto my brother's head :)
View finder. You out in the disc, hold it up to the light, look through it and press button to rotate disc
One of those 3D viewers kids used to have. I'm sure you can still get them.
Yes I do. It's a slide viewer. It's probably called something else but it's for viewing slides. It's what we used to do before we had the internet.
Oh by the way it shows stuff in 3d.
I loved looking in our View-Master as a kid.
I have no idea what happened to it.

I've seen "adult" viewmaster slides, or at least adult ones from copycat companies.
