Today is August 21, National Poets Day! It serves as a reminder of the importance of poetry in human expression. Do you express your love with poems?
+1 yi wrote this for my sister after finding out she was pregnant
The purpose of life
The purpose of life is to make more life
Regardless of struggle burden or strife
But I look at the youngest voices today
So little to hope and few comforts to say
They’re each on their own and each can’t find their way
but perhaps that’s because they’ve no burden to pay
You might find that odd, more burdens less pain?
But once you know humans this truth is quite plain
The more that you suffer, the more that you know
The more you can bend wherever life blows
When you have a burden you have a goal
Then you’ll be more prepared to pay all life’s tolls
The answer then simple, the answer quite clear
Regardless of angst or, worries or fear
To take up this burden and make it your own
And see just how quick through burden you’ve grown
You’ll be more assured, you’ll know what to do
You’ll see all life’s hardships and see each one through
This now your burden, your purpose, your cause
And all that there is is all ever was
Because life is a circle, a cycle, a wheel
And now it’s your turn to write on life’s Steele
now you guard new life, these precious, these few
They’re small and they’re weak and they’ll always need you

+1 yBoobslayer, lover of all things busty,
Embraces poetry on National Poets Day,
Where art and desire intertwine, robustly,
In words that celebrate love in a playful way.Melons and boobies, those soft delights,
Tits and milkers, such captivating sights,
Fried eggs and chesticles, oh what a tease,
Honkers and bazoombas, brings one to their knees. But poetry, ah, the language of the heart,
Expressing emotions in an intricate art,
Coconuts and fiery biscuits, @roosterbreast's sweet dance,
Cantaloupes and boom booms, a passionate romance. In this realm of desire, where jubilation thrives,
Boobslayer ponders the question that arrives,
Do I write poems to my loved one, or rejoice,
When she, with her own words, gives my soul a voice?A poem, my dear @cousin_stacy , an ode to your charms,
To melons so tender, to arms that embrace,
To your soul, like a symphony with no alarms,
To the warmth of your love, filling every space. But in return, words from you, my sweet love,
Bring forth a joy, like gentle coos from the dove,
Each line, a caress, etching upon my heart,
A sonnet, a haiku, a masterpiece of art.So, on this National Poets Day, let us share,
Our words, our desires, our love laid bare,
For in the realm of poetry, our spirits entwined,
Boobslayer and @purplepoppy , a love defined. With jugs full of passion, and lines that glisten,
Our hearts beat as one, united in this mission,
To celebrate love, in both prose and poetry,
For in this world, we are each other's ecstasy.20 Reply
+1 yI was a writing major in college. Poetry is, as my professor described it, the “bare bones” of storytelling, a skeleton. It can be difficult to master both for trying to find a way to put your words into a rhythm but also just whittling a story down into its base components to tell for a lyrical tale. When the time came to choose between a nonfiction writing class and a poetry class, I chose nonfiction just because I like a fully-fleshed out story more. Though after studying poetry in a separate literature class at that collegiate level, I kind of hate it now. Especially when it’s a poem only 4 words long.

+1 yI'm not big on poetry despite being a writer. I like lyrical poetry and writing lyrics but that's as far as my poetry expertise goes. I wrote a song for my boyfriend.

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yI poem for my wife..
She captured starshine in her eyes
And let me have a peek
It danced and twinkled merrily
And made my heartbeat weak
Sweeter than soft candlelight
It put moonlight to shame!
And sparkled with a fire alive
And bade me lose my name
So willingly I cast myself
Inside her seas of brown
The waves came crashing over me
I was happy to be drowned
The captured starshine spoke to me
And begged me hear its plea
“A prison here inside her eyes
Will just not do for me.”
It whispered tales of distant lands
And galaxies untold
Of seas and love, of longings grand
And armored knights of old
It promised it would dance with me
Atop the sky and sea
The universe would be all mine
If I’d but set it free
Her eyes were vibrant sparks of fire
They stole my soul that day
I could not ever give them up
So I had this to say
“I'm sorry I can't take your deal
I rather like you there
Starshine winking from her eyes
And bouncing off her hair
I love her eyes the way they are
And so I am afraid
An offer of the universe
Won’t induce me to a trade”
The captured starshine twinkled
It could behave no other way
Her eyes danced and sparkled with the light
And took my breath away
Her charms had wooed that feckless light
Down from the nighttime sky
Its freedom was not mine to give
(nor would I even try)
I reached out to hold her hand
And asked her so I’d see
If a girl who'd captured starshine light
Would deign to stay with me
I fell for her that afternoon
A love both pure and true
I fell for her because her touch
Was captured starshine too12 Reply- +1 y

Opinion Owner+1 yThank you, gave it to my wife on our tenth anniversary
+1 yI write poems to structure my memories in positive ways. I usually do this when I feel strongly about a situation and need to package it in a certain light, it's ususlly a case (for me), of moving forward from something negative that I need to process into a learning experience. So after having concluded something heavy on my heart and mind I rephrase the narrative and keep moving a bit easier.
I wish I did more positive poems, I just don't experience much of that deep positivity. It's my mindset, just I don't let people in and I overthink too much. Otherwise I am fine, 1 hug per year keeps me afloat, though I getting better at that.
Maybe I should try writing more positive things just to chase that mindset. Usually nit very good poems when it's forced though.00 Reply
Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yThe funny part is that I am a writer. In fact, I've been published.
However, that said, I do not write poems to loved ones or anyone else. Not because I do not like poetry or have a romantic streak.
Rather, because I am - frankly - not a very good poet. My skill is prose writing, where, as I have noted, I have been published. However, when it comes to poetry, although I have written it in the past, it is just something that I never felt very good at and so I spare myself and the potential recipients the tortures of my "poetic streak."

And my world is like no ones been there since ages
I got demons to fight, have to put them in their cages
My life is like a endless videigame with unlimited unbeatable stages
If my life would be a curse
It would surely be the worst
Its like dark song in reverse
