This weekend is the Chinese/Lunar New Year celebration. We are getting ready for "new"... clean the house, wear new cloths, trim the hair and nails, and start fresh, buy a new dirt bike...
That all makes sense. But the "Dragon" theme does not. There's no such thing, maybe a Kimodo Dragon... but that's some over zealous lizard. There are however, Dinosaurs, probably what the Dragon was based upon... Chinese probably found Dinosaur skeletons and invented these stories about Dragons to control their people. Fear does that. I don't want to live in fear, but I'll celebrate dinosaurs if that's what everyone else is doing because the moon changed...
So is this really, the year of the T-Rex? What dinosaur should we celebrate?
Am I in essence, a dinosaur cause I'm so old? Maybe I should celebrate myself?

You know the Chinese are serious about their dragons because they have mustaches. And I mean mustaches:
But... you'll notice I didn't say human mustaches. In light of the fact that said dragons were originally river spirits, I think the origin is less draconic and more... terrestrial:
Also, all twelve of the people who've been on the Moon have used the Gregorian calendar; the word you're looking for is "Chinese". It's not a bad word; it's not obscene, vulgar, or blasphemous.
interesting... I've never seen that catfish mustache, has a sort of Mexican flair to it. Makes me think Mexicans are kinda Chinese that crossed over the icey land bridge. maybe they survived on catfish and mammoths?
Yea Chinese smart smart...
But a whole year for dragons... that's too much. Month of the dragon...
Ah, but they'd've been told of the great miracle crop "corn", that lets you make tacos. That, clearly, would warrant a whole CENTURY of the dragon. But again, China didn't GET tacos for thousands of years. So they compromised on a year. It makes sense to me.
The lack of Chinese dragons wearing sombreros, on the other hand...
