Wiz is just some 2010s shit, and it’s 2025 now. KP is from that same era. The Bee-Gees were before my time, so I perceive it differently. Honestly, everyone since the 90s for me, I can’t believe they’re retired/old, because I was there for it when it was new, and 30 years ago simply doesn’t feel like 30 years ago to me. Even more so more for 20 years ago, and I’m still trying to mentally register that 2015 was a long time ago.

My younger cousins, 21 and 18, they were telling me like a year or two ago that what was “out” in Gen Z was stuff from like 2016. To me, 2016 was like yesterday, and I couldn’t tell you the difference between 2016 and 2025, I don’t feel like it’s that different. We’re talking me being 46 or 37…. there’s not really a huge difference in those ages for me. I’m a Patriots fan, I still feel like Tom Brady played here recently, but he really hasn’t, and he hasn’t played at all for a couple of years. And we’re on our 3rd hope for a replacement QB…. but it doesn’t feel like that’s all transpired. 2020-25 doesn’t feel like it even happened yet, to me.

Anyway, I say all that to just say that I think she just kind of ran her course as a young star. You hit 30-something, you need to be legendary to hang on. Otherwise, the 12-22 demographic that consumes (buys💰💰💰) the most music and therefore decides what’s cool are just gonna see you as some uncool old fuck, lmao. She’ll possibly have another moment, because I notice kids think “10 years ago was lame; 20 years ago is nostalgically cool”, I think because it’s that window between the kids who came before you that you’re trying to be different from, and your parents, haha. 30 years ago, not cool again. Weird phenomenon.

Noticed it myself in high school. Grunge and 90s alternative were popular, but there was a fairly significant faction of kids who were on some “I should’ve grown up in the 70s, mannnnnn!” They rejected Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins, and asserted that Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin were “real music.”

But there were ZERO kids hung up on the 80s. We had recently moved on and hopefully AWAY from the 80s, and saw that as dorky. And then the 60s, that didn’t register with us. Late 60s, Woodstock, etc, got grouped with the 70s, and that more Beach Boys type 60s stuff was for the elderly and not on our radar (but I fucking LOVE The Beach Boys, haha).

One funny thing I did notice though…in the 80s and 90s, I think the youth of the 60s were finally in positions of influence in media, and THEY didn’t seem to get that the 60s were gone. I think I remember 60s nostalgia in the 80s. That might be why I know The Beach Boys, actually. Probably Surfin’ USA from Teen Wolf, lmao…. and case in point: high school kids in 1985 wouldn’t be jamming The Beach Boys, lmao, some out of touch, then 40-something writer called for that😂 Saved By The Bell had an episode where Zack Morris and the guys had a fucking doo-wop group, and it was like 1991🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️😂😂😂

Anyway, long tangent, but KP is basically in that “from ten years ago, so nobody cares about her” phase. 2030s she might enjoy a resurgence. With other acts of the 2010s.
