I know, if you’re an only-child, usually you’d like to have a brother or a sister. But in my case, I never asked about it, and I always felt lucky that never had one.
(In alphabetical order)
1) I could have any toy/video-game I wanted as a kid
I don’t care about toys/video-games anymore, but I always had more toys/video-games than the other kids,
2) I could listen to any music I want
I know earphones exist, but sometimes you want to surround yourself, with the music you like. For example when you eat, it’s more convenient to play music via speakers, than having your earphones on.
3) I could use the computer without having someone else snooping through my history
Obviously parents can (thankfully in my case, my privacy was respected from a young age!), but it’s not the same with siblings, because they might do it in order to piss you off, and even worse tell your parents what you are doing.
4) Less fighting
You know how siblings fight with each other, right? Especially if they are, two boys.
5) Living on your own from a younger age
As an only child you have the opportunity to experience Home Alone, from a younger age. I remember the first time I had the whole house on my own, was pure magic.
6) My room is my own
That’s the reason I don’t like having roommates as well (except hot female roommates of course. Then it’d be more than a pleasure). But having to share my room with somebody else for many years of my life…well it sounds like hell to me.
7) No sharing
Yes, this is the ultimate reason why I feel happy I never had any siblings. I remember when I used to visit other kids who had siblings, they had to share stuff like their Playstation or Game Boy, when I had them all by myself!
The only bad thing in no sharing though, it was that I was obese as a kid. I was going with my parents in many fast-food restaurants because I loved this type of food since I was a kid (and still do, but I am more careful about it now), and I remember I was eating a whole pizza by myself for a dinner, when I was only 10! I didn’t have to share it, so…
Thankfully I am skinny now, so obesity belongs to the past.
