My dad was super controlling my whole life and now that I'm moving on my own to get away from him I hardly know how to do anything

I'm legally blind, i do things slowly and messily. but my dad pulled them out of my hands and emasculated me my whole life, didn't give me the time to do them and always corrected me often before i even had a chance to do it the right way. I didn't even begin to learn to cook till i was in my 20s.

now I'm moving to philadelphia and I hardly know how to do most things and I don't have anyone to teach me (mom has dementia and was always pretty out of it anyways) I don't know how to get things together

I believe you would contact human services in your area. There would be some kind of government assistance for adults with disabilities that would be able to aid you. Unfortunately I don’t know much but hopefully this will help you start.

Contact social services for that blind in your area, they will help get you some assistance and help you become more independent!


I’m sorry you had a dad like that, he was showing his ineptitude in how to help you as you grew up!
