Is it inappropriate to wear cheeky bikini bottoms around some people?

I live near the beach so I'm in a bikini pretty often, especially in the summer. Cheeky style bottoms are very popular here and that's what I always wear to the beach. My roommate is upset with me though because I wore my normal swimsuit to the beach with her and her family when they came to visit. She claims I was inappropriately dressed and that half my butt was showing (false) all day with her family around.

When you put it on, do you think "Oh wow, this is really cute! It makes my eyes pop!"
Or "Oh wow, I really like how my butt looks in this, and I like the cut outs here... And here..."
You can wear whatever you want, you're an adult. But you can't stop people from having quick notions about you. I'm not saying cover yourself from head to toe, but I am telling you that it is important to leave some to the imagination.
"It's hot outside" and "It's the beach" are excuses to wear as little as you would wear underwear?
Here's my thought: keep the bikini top, but wear some bright coffee shorts over your bottoms so it is still cute but you're still covered.

I can kinda see where she's getting at, but at the same time its a dumb argument to start. You're at the beach! Girls wear bikinis! Did her family say anything to you? Or show signs of discomfort? So either she told you that because her family is overly conservative or she's jealous of your ass.

I don't know... that's on her. If she wanted you dress in something from the 1920's she should have said something and given you the chance to not go.

cheeky bathing suits are fine. well if u r wearing a thong around her family is... I don't know... maybe its alright maybe if her family is conservative its a bit problematic but tother than that... wear what ever u want! it is a part of the fun in the beach!
