My dad calls me a fucking idiot and other names. I feel like I can't love him?

I want to have a relationship with my dad but he is controlling and he calls me and my mom fucking stupid and children and other names. It's very hard for me and I feel that I have emotional issues because of it. I can't afford to move out, which I feel would be the best thing for me, so I am stuck. Just looking for someone to relate to. Does anyone else have a father like this? Thank you.

No there cannot be a proper relationship between you and your father my girlfriend had a dad like yours, I say to hell with him, hang in there, be patient and move out as soon as possible whenever you secure a job. I wish you luck, try to be with your mother and comfort each other.

Wow, I could never call my daughters names like that, I never even called their mother names like that, he must have underlying issues for doing that, must be feeling really bad about himself to talk to people in his family that way, he needs professional help

He would laugh if anyone suggested him getting help. But I agree that he should. At least now he doesn't break or throw things. He did when I was younger.

I think there can't be a proper relationship with that type of parent. You and your mother need to talk to someonw about that. No one deserves that kind of emotional and psychological trauma. I think you need to talk to someone. Moving out is the easiest part. Getting FAR AWAY from thsi person will be the hardest. Wish you luck. Not exactly the same but yeah my father does something sometimes which upset me a lot. The best way to deal with this is talk to him, show him what you are feeling. Make him realize how cruel he becomes. Or you can still love him, love him even more and change his heart. If he doesn't respect you/or your mom you do the opposite, give him too much of respect.

Yeah, I cry a lot. I think that it's too easy for women to become pregnant and for men to be come fathers. It's just not fair for the children.

It's fine for him to be upset and want to talk about issues he may have with my mother and I. I have tried to talk to him about things. My mom does too. He just laughs or name-calls or in the past and even now throws or breaks things. I don't think that behavior is ever acceptable.
