Personally I don't allow my son on anything that he can interact with somebody. He is only 10, and still pretty gullible and susceptible to many things. That will change as he gets older but for now he is still too naive to the potential dangers
Best way is to draft a term as part of the companies contract which states you cannot catfish. And the requirement of a fullbody photo with you holding a sign of randomly generated numbers.
Its not possible in all cases but I copy their photo and search on google images to see if the picture has been used elsewhere online. I've discovered tjay some who have sent me add requests were using photos stolen from models or actors. The same technique could be used for children
Easy to create an account you have to have a goverment issued id verified with a server, and the service automatically uses your name to make your account which is public. These online identities are listed as verified.
The best advice is to tell them to never meet them or agree to meet them in person and to always never give away any personal information like where they live or go to school
Facial recognition will slowly play this particular role! Been hoping online networks cease to exist, with the growing popularity, my personal preference or 'Knowledge' is showing how the younger generation are slowly becoming more "Deprived" (best way can descibe). Had to learn my own roots!
Facial recognition is an easy way down a totalitarian shithole. Parents have to get more involved and really look at what their kids install on their phones and talk with them about cafishing etc. Also networks will never go away, humans are build for any kind of network, we are social creatures.
Might be the way i had to be/ 'Personal thoughts on the world'
I do agree though, that parents should monitor more, kids get smart. Find ways to get through all the passwords and coding. Nothing really can be done until the parents are involved.
Well i would think the main way would be to inform them about the dangers of being catfished. I also would think that parents should supervise their kids internet usage to be honest.
I don't know. How come a child is using the internet, alone? Without supervision? A lot of parents are laid back with that without realizing that leaving them alone in the WWW is like leaving them in the streets by themselves.
Monitoring the child's online activities from the beginning is necessary. Training them about avoiding different kinds of scams is very necessary these days.

Don't buy them mobile phones. They can use tablets instead of mobile phones.
FACTS đŻ
Simple.
Parental supervision and parental control.
Kids have no business being online unless it's research for school assignments.
I bet it was a kid that disliked my opinion.

Including posting innocent pics on FB, that give away information. School uniform, framed certificates with names on. That sort of thing.
By making them watch 'Catfish the tv show' on MTV :)
LMAO đ đ¤Ł
Enforce the age restrictions on social media for f sake, they shouldn't be on there till they're 16-18

Keep your kids internet limited, and monitor everything they do online.
Good idea â¤ď¸
You never know what kinds of scary people are on the internet.
Sooooooo freaking TRUE!!!đ
Sadly...
Just monitor what they do online. Young people shouldn't spend too much time on social networks and the sort as well

Don´t allow your kids online unsupervised. Just like you wouldn´t allow them to interact with just anybody outside of the internet.
Well i would think the main way would be to inform them about the dangers of being catfished. I also would think that parents should supervise their kids internet usage to be honest.

I can protect my children from being catfished. I wonât let them use any modern technology until they have reached the legal age of 18.
Well the only way is to tell them about it but we can't control what happens online with other people

Validate all accounts using real identity information
Tell them what to look out for and dont talk to anyone they are uncertain about.
More or less unrelated, but damn! That's some really good perspective for a selfie taken by a child!
