Would you let someone housesit your home while you’re away?

I am not familiar with this concept but a lot of people on my last post mentioned doing so.  I personally dont trust anyone enough to ever housesit my home. I dont even trust my fam enough to go in my room. I would not give anyone a key to my home unless they live there 24/7. If i waned my house to be looked after while i was away, that relative can drive past my house to do a slight checkup 🤣 I assume housesitting is mainly for people with pets  #FeelFreeToList #HouseSitting

On a military base this is very common. Military members do not make a lot of money unless they are super high ranked. Also, we (both the member and the family) go through hardships others could not imagine. When you live on a base, you form a bond with your neighbors that is hard to form off base. Most military and their families are not looking to steal or sabotage someone. This makes housesitting very practical for those with pets. I had a neighbor once who would go on trips back home with her dad whenever he could take leave. I would spend the weekend in their house watching their dog.

I do not feel okay when somebody is sitting his or her ass in my house or rather my apartment in the name of housesitting. Because some people are too nousy n can end up going through ma shit , hence invading my privacy. And for the women they wouldn't resist their guts from sniffing and puffing on my clothes 😂😂 @dizzydesii

yeah I have had people house sit, either just stop at mine for say 8 months rent free or pop round at weekends to keep things ticking over.

the awkward ones were not friends but when you had been say dating a girl for a month, then we’re going away for 3-6 months etc, Sometimes she was already living with you and you had to ask her to move out or hope she was okay for the time you were away, which meant having mates drop round now and then to check up lol.

i am likely doing some house sitting for a friend in a few months time, as he is off to Somalia for 3 months, we are dividing it up between a few of us and it’s more a case of watching his house does not get robbed.

We have warned him, that his house is fair game for partying and as a shagging palace.

yes. I've given keys to neighbors and family. I've let them use my kitchen when I'm gone. That's built up good will. I also loan tools to neighbors or help.

We are very open and sharing with my girlfriend's family. they stayed at our place while we were away.

If you don't trust them, don't do it. Have to accept the risks that others don't think like you do, and may damage things even if not intentional.

I like to build bridges where I can and I prefer that way of life than living in fear of others. Make your world...

It gets weird now with cameras everywhere. I don't do cameras so far.

Never had this come up as I live with my dad, just the two of us while I go to school. If I go away, he is still home.

If we both go somewhere, we lock it up. Turn off the water and unplug everything then leave it until we get back.

No pets to worry about, but if it was my own place and he isn't on the trip with me, he would not stay to house sit. He would check on it every few days to make sure no one had broken in and things were still fine with it.

We've had family house sit for us in the past. One of his brothers has roommates and will usually volunteer just to have some alone time. Like to have someone there due to a few sketchy neighbors and a dog that doesn't do well in "puppy hotel" environments.

My wife has a very trustworthy lady friend who has house sat our cats for as long as two weeks while we were on vacation. Sometimes, she would just stop by once or twice a day to feed the cats and clean their litter boxes. We also have house plants and some potted plants on our decks that need watering.

We're very lucky to have someone we trust.

If i had to probably my mom or my grandma to house sit for me. I might bring my cat along depending on the trip I'm going and how long I'll be away so that'll be one less responsibility for either of them. But yeah I'll probably just let my mom or grandma house sit for me.

I have a VERY few close friends who 'pet/house sit' for me.. Even then, my firearms are secured in a keyed safe. My Craft library is HEAVILY 'warded'. "HELL to pay", LITERALLY (!) if that trust were to be betrayed! 3:)

I trust my friends to house sit bur not my cousins or neighbours, they disrespect me to my face so I do not trust them to respect my property when I’m not in the room. I trust my dads friends but not my moms friends or her family members.

I would only do it, because it is freezing right now and do not want anything ruined. When I go on vacation I am taking my animals to the animal hotel, so I know they get plenty of attention while I am gone.

I'd wouldn't mind a maid on the day before I get home, get everything fresh before I arrive.

We send our dog to a dog daycare. It also offers lodging for them too. They get to play with other dogs all day. We cancel our mail and have different lights set to different times. Then we take our 5th wheel to Disney World.
