Dude kids can be natural assholes. I came home from work, cooked my kids favorite food, set the table... and my daughter tosses her bowl of food on the floor and screams I didn't put it in her favorite color bowl... no offense, she got an ass whopping.
I do it not because i want to. In fact I dont want to. Love my little girl to wits end. But i need her to understand that there's consequences to being a turd. Im not gonna give her whatever she wants. Thats the problem. with a lotta kids. Grew up as entitled little snowflakes who want people to appeal to their feelings. My kids are alright. They love me. as their dad... but being a parent isn't being a friend.

Okay if someone hit your kids outside, they put them over their knee and spanked them, you find this after the fact, what do you do, violence against them is out of the question, you just let it lie or call the police?

I am not some random kid's parent. So your argument makes absolutely no sense at all. The two are not comparable at all. I mean, would you walk up to some random woman and run your hands over her boobs? No. Does that mean you can't do it to your SO? Of course not.
You're not "beating them up". You're disciplining them. The two are not the same. And, by the way, when my kids were growing up, I didn't necessarily have to wait until we were behind closed doors. I would occasionally correct their actions at the time of the infraction.

Just two days ago, my 8 yr old said something mean to a girl the other day in public which made her cry. I politely but sternly told my son that he was very rude and I demanded he apologize. He refused to. For the rest of the day, he put on a bad attitude and began kicking things and irritating others (basically shifting his problem to someone else). I asked him why he was upset and what he should do better. He said I needed to be miserable for making HIM feel bad. Yeah, that's enough strikes buddy. He got a back hand whop to the face. In PUBLIC. Guess what, if that hurt little girl's dad saw me do this he'd probably give me a high five. It's not about closed doors. It's about setting boundaries.
