Is it common for a woman to complain about others being more successful in life?

Whenever my mother sees more successful people she complains. She was talking about her wealthier cousin going on trips with her husband, her daughter already getting married with kids, how they go to many countries and travel whenever they want to, etc.
Then she added: Meanwhile we're stuck at home practically all days (false; we do go out sometimes and I'm busy on Saturdays with my boyfriend), can't travel to other places nor countries, and neither my brother nor me have kids yet.

My father answered with an ''I see. Ok. Now where was I? It's a sunny day isn't it. Lets have breakfast''. He does that whenever he finds the subject of conversation either pointless or someone is complaining.

Or at times he also answers to that with an ''I don't care about other people. They don't pay our bills nor maintain us.'' I've noticed a couple other women tend to react like that if they see more successful people meanwhile the guys care about their own lives, ignoring what others do or don't do.

Yup women can't help comparing their loves to other women's lives. I've seen it and its exhausting and pointless and I usually do what your dad does and just change the subject or say something like "what good is getting sad about other people's life going to do for me?"
