He recently had a very expensive jumper ripped by a dog at work that belonged to a director. He hasn't told anyone yet, but he had made it clear he doesn't like the dog.

The dog is the director's, or the jumper is the director's?

If the dog is, he can either tell them and ask them to pay for fixing the jumper, or he can just stop wearing expensive clothes around rowdy dogs.

If the jumper is, he could tell the director that and how it got ripped. Nothing much else to do there.

In the US you are responsible for anything your children or pets damage of another person’s property. Is it not the same there?

Get him a new jumper as it's still cold just now you don't want him looking like a rag n bone man or dressed with holes in clothing part naked and freezing it's still only the start of may so its a bit chilly for July! As they say! Is he injured? Or is it you that's wondering what to do as in some possible claim?

He should speak to the owner and see if they can arrange a replace if not sue the owner for damages.
