Why is it the older I get the more I don’t want kids?

I think they’re a burden and just additional stress to your life.

I mean why would you choose that over peace?

Many people say it’s so that when you are elderly, your kids will be there for you.
Bullshit😂 what’s the guarantee they will be there? The amount of people in care homes because of this reason.

I think the older a person get's the more responsibility they have and if they don't already have kids, then they'll see it as a major responsibility, one that doesn't appeal to them, at least not then, as it'd just add to the ones they already have.

That being said, there is some kind of argument that when you get much older, around your 40s, then you'll start to feel lonely and regret it.

The above isn't an attempt to change your mind by the way, like I myself don't want them and that uncertainty about regret and life in general worries, just like with other major aspects of life.

I don’t have and have never wanted kids either, and the older I’ve got the less I’ve wanted them. Choosing to have kids only to look after you in later life is incredibly selfish and not a good reason at all to have kids - imagine telling the kid this was the only reason you had them! 😳 Having kids is a personal choice, and I think it’s really ignorant and selfish to put down and demonise anyone who chooses for themselves not to have kids. If you choose never to have kids, that’s your personal choice for your life to make 👍

It’s selfish for parents to pressurise their children into having kids just so they can have grandchildren to boast about and see occasionally without having any responsibility for them. It’s not selfish choosing not to have and bring up an unwanted child into an already overpopulated and under-resourced planet. Some people use the ‘selfish’ card to try and ‘guilt-trip’ others into having kids, sometimes because they are jealous of your single lifestyle! You do what’s right for you - this is your life-choice to make 🙂

I was pretty ambivalent about having kids. I did no NOT want to have kids. Now that I have had them I am glad i did.
