My friend is suicidal and has been for over a decade. He’s never actually tried to do anything until now. A couple days ago he overdosed on pain killers, he survived and tried it again. According to him, I’m the only person who knows and he said not to tell anyone. I really want to tell someone and I want him to get all the help he needs.
I made a previous post about this situation and asked a different question, but now I would like to ask, since I’m currently the only person who knows, if something bad does happen to him, would I be blamed for not saying anything? I really
Want to tell someone, but don’t know who, and I’m unsure if this breaks some sort of “confidentiality” and would make him feel embarrassed or ashamed in front of other People. The suicide hotlines in my area are shit. I honestly don’t care if my friend hates me telling someone. I just want to help.
I understand it’s a heavy topic, thank you in advance for any help.

One of my good friends asked me what was the most painless was to commit suicide. I was in medical technology training at the time and tried to talk him out of it. He matriculated in Junior college with a major in philosophy and religion. I got married in the fall of his second year. Two months after my wedding I received a phone call from my brother stating that he had put a 22 rifle to his temple and pulled the trigger. My brother was outside and witnessed the whole thing. His entire family is dead now. I can remember his coming over to my house crying because his mother and father told him that they had wanted his older brother but not him. You know, there were times that I am sure my parents were not ecstatic over some of my choices or behavior. But they never said I was an accident.
Call the hospital in your area that serves the public and ask them about the procedures for having someone sent to the hospital for treatment. Alternatively, call the local courthouse and ask themabout procedures for having someone taken to the hosptal for evaluation.
Thank you for the advice 😊 I’ll do this now
Good luck. Remember that he told you because he probably wants someone to intervene on his behalf.
