i got a pitbull puppy recently and he is a great dog he cuddles and listens sometimes and is a great family pet really gentle he is 6 months but i cannot potty train him we have tried everything he has separation anxiety i believe i’ll put him outside and he will come back in and pee and poop i tried to walk him for 1-2 hours and he still did it so i brought a cage and put food and water out there and let him roam for hours and he still did it he will go outside but then come inside and go again like purposely it seems i have tried giving him light spanks and telling him bad and reward him when he does it outside and praise him but he will still do it again inside as soon as i walk out of the room for even 5 seconds like to use the bathroom or grab something he will do it every single time i am losing my mind he has done it dozens of times and i have tried everything from praising and rewarding for outside and light spanking him or telling him bad or no for going inside and even tried watching him and interrupting him when he goes inside but he will just keep going and then run off when i catch him how do i stop this it is driving me insane he is a great dog but won’t potty train for a damn

Potty training a puppy can be a challenging process, but it's important to remember that it takes time, patience, and consistency. It's also important to avoid using physical punishment or negative reinforcement, as this can be harmful to the puppy and can actually make the potty training process more difficult.
Instead, try to focus on positive reinforcement and consistent routines. Take your puppy outside frequently, especially after meals or naps, and praise and reward him when he goes potty outside. Use a consistent command, such as "go potty," to signal to your puppy what you want him to do.
When you're inside, supervise your puppy closely and interrupt any attempts to go potty indoors with a firm "no" or clap. Immediately take him outside to the designated potty area and praise and reward him when he goes potty outside.
It may also be helpful to limit your puppy's access to certain areas of the house until he's fully potty trained, and to use a crate or playpen when you're unable to supervise him closely.
If you continue to have difficulty with potty training, consider seeking advice from a professional dog trainer or behaviorist, who can provide personalized guidance and support. Remember to be patient and consistent, and to avoid using negative reinforcement or punishment when working with your puppy.
