If you could travel into the past, would you wipe yourself out?

Sounds like it's not possible, but lets say it is. Would you go back in the past and erase your ability to exist? Say, maybe you meet your mom in school and trick her so that she goes with someone other than your dad... you thus don't exist anymore.

Time travel is messy... maybe we should just enjoy the here and now and make the most of crafting the best future!

I would absolutely go and save my stupid ass young father from hitching himself to the monster that is my mother.

Idc if "me" as I know myself would disappear.

My father, his family, and whoever he ends up fathering would have an incredibly better life without my mother.

I would also be spared all her abuse.

Well, there's a lot. Likely more than any of us know are hereditary or genetic issues since mental illness runs through much of her family.

She's likely BPD and NPD but every mental health professional she went to either fired her or she fired them for "being ineffective" (read: calling her on her shit).

She lost her own mother at 8, had abusive family herself, and being raised Catholic didn't help her. But none of that really explains how she got to 63+ years without healing herself.

I've been no contact for going on 4 years. I've never been healthier, happier, or wealthier.

yes gets to a point have to remove toxic people from life, sadly. at a time she will be in decline and it will get worse.
there is help out there, but it's hard and gotta find skilled people, and have someone willing to heal their traumas. you said it... she went through traumas... losing a mom that young would hit hard. some people/personalities have harder time.

No, because I saw the damage Illinois' Covid insanity was inflicting, knew it was wrong, but was powerless to change it. When it became clear it wasn't going to stop, I packed up and headed out here, where it had passed much more quickly.

There are going to be books written about how botched the handling of the whole situation was (and frankly, it was a lot closer to killing cats during the Black Death than to wearing bacterial pneumonia-spreading face masks during the Spanish flu), but to my mind, the ultimate symbol of how crazy things got is that to find sanity, I had to come to FLORIDA.
