Why would friends suddenly become unsupportive when you are start to see success?

I am a creative entrepreneur. I am well aware that expecting family and friends to buy from you is unreasonable. They may not be your customer.

What I have been finding is that, as I have been slowly making more and more progress, friends who I considered close, and was a huge supporter of their enterprises, have not reciprocated.

I know that what I am doing is high quality because I am seeing results from strangers. But, at first they were seeming to be cheering for me but now it's like they just suddenly stopped.

Have you experienced this? What gives?

First of all the pic in the description is cute, 2nd unsupportive friends aren't friends to begin with. U must know that the more u succeed in life the more envy u attract. And sometimes loved oned can turn jealous even siblings. I would just say keep doing what u r doing succeed and f haters. Make new friend who will celebrate ur success and increase it

Ditch anyone who isn't an entrepreneur is the best advice I got and it made things much better to follow that

Well ditch is a tough word but I feel way safer around other entrepreneurs. Even if they are struggling.

To be fair, most of my friends were already in business because business people attract the same and I cut my teeth at eight years old

There are different types of friends. Some friends like you because you are better off then them and some friends like you because you are worse off then them. If you guys are not compatible as friends anymore it might be time to extend your social circle.

It gets down to jealousy where people are very insecure and always talk the talk but never do anything to follow up.. Then you have the modest people (the quiet ones) who walk the walk and when the positive attention and supporters give great feedback it intimidates the ones who do nothing but talk to whoever cares to listen by means of gaslighting

If I have a really good and successful idea I usually explore the pro's and cons, get professional opinions/advice, and most important not tell anyone outside the realm especially the wrong person stealing your idea and presenting as ones own AKA Mark Zuckerberg

I've experienced a lot of that with my old friends. It's just jealousy, and them feeling resentful of my success.

Comparison truly is the enemy of happiness.

Could be jealousy. I discovered that when my business started to take off. The real friends, even if not using my services, cheered me on. The others sort of disappeared.

That's awesome that you went after your goals and are smashing them. Yes, I don't expect them to buy but to be saying good things then just be cold... that stings. Or not ever offer a shred of support after having been so supportive.

It's a bit depressing to see that you don't have any real friends. My whole life, this has been a problem. I will be friends with my mom and my kids and other *supportive* entrepreneurs who understand the hustle.
