Was I right to be pissed at my elderly neighbor for insulting my absentee mother?

Like two years ago, a couple month after my mother passed away, I went to visit my neighbor, my two best friends and I. Then I asked her what she remembered about my mother before she left. She said, “Don’t take this offense dear, but after she abandoned you and your dad, it was a…. I’m just going to say it. You’re an adult now….. a bitch. You mom was a selfish bitch for abandoning you and your dad. She didn’t even care enough to call or notice how hurt you were and you wasted your time on a woman that didn’t want you.”
I yelled, “Don’t call my mother a bitch!”
She said, “Sorry but it’s the truth and you know it. You were too blind to see it.”
Me, “I’m not going to let you talk about my mom like that!”
Her, “And I’m not going to let you talk to me like that. Plus you asked me dear. Continue with that attitude I’m going to have to ask you to leave.”
My best friends was trying to get me to chill out and stop arguing with her, but I wasn’t gonna take it and I yelled, “HOW DARE YOU?” I also walked out and my best friends called me out for being rude to an elderly woman and she was doing nothing was speaking the truth. They said what my mother did was jerk-like behavior and she was selfish and vile that didn’t give a rats ass about me for 10 years.
That was MY mommy! Not theirs.
