Because she's lonely and also wants to keep in touch with you, but her life isn't exciting so she doesn't really have anything substantive to talk about. If her life was more exciting, then perhaps she wouldn't be lonely and wouldn't feel the need to text you. She's kind of sad and having those little conversations with you make her day a little bit brighter and help her feel like she isn't so alone.
