Is it normal to continue liking someone for over 2 decades?

I'm 36 years but I've always liked my friend's brother. I don't mind keeping this as a playful fantasy that'll never come true. I wish him the best even if it's not with me.

It's been 24 years later and yes I still feel attraction towards him whenever I see his FB pictures. Just chatting with him yesterday on Messenger as a friend brought me back to my youthful years again.

I've moved on and know he'll never reciprocate but my feelings towards him never really disappeared. It's similar to liking places you can't ever travel to. The feeling is still there, even if it's just from a distance.

Hmm, I wouldn’t say it’s normal. If you still build fantasies in your head and feel a certain way when you see his pictures on social media, you haven’t moved on. For your on sake, please try to really move on with your life and find a man to have a real life relationship with.

I'm not obsessed with him though. I like him but from a distance. I meant moving as in it not affecting my life. I've been seeing someone else.
You can be with others in your life while finding a certain person attractive.

You’re only hurting yourself. Believe me. If it’s just a minor crush, why do you create fantasies in your head about you and him? That doesn’t make any sense. Plus, you said so yourself that the feelings aren’t therefore. Therefore, why do this to yourself? Do the fantasies help you cope in some way?

Maybe it's my own delusional fantasy but there is just something about him, something in him I saw when I was 12 years old. I even groped him (well some other guy dared me to) once when I was in 7th grade and he was in 8th grade.
I think the fantasies in a way make me go back in time to that youthful time and those times I used to talk to sister (my friend) about my crush on him when I was in 9th grade.

There is just something about him that got me attracted since I was 12. Even if I were in another relationship or married, I'll never stop liking that particular guy. Though if you only have thoughts, that wouldn't be cheating. After all, no one can control my personal thoughts nor dreams.

Totally agree. I’d just avoid him. Be honest about your love for him, see what he says and be ready to cut contact if he’s still not interested.

It's not holding me back. I like him from a distance meanwhile giving others a chance. I've been seeing someone else.
