Would you believe them on their word alone, even if they admit that no physical evidence was left behind?
Would you believe them if they could provide some kind of evidence, even if it wasn't solid 100% proof?

@BuffTaco! I love that name! Are you from Buffalo? If so, we have a lot to talk about.
To answer your question, I think that depends on what they said they encountered.
Maybe a ghost. I grew up not far from the Amityville Horror house. In fact, my buddy Scott from high school was supposed to stay there the night of the murders. We were 11 at the time (1974) and his friend from Pee Wee football was a member of the DeFeo family who lived there (I am guessing Marc DeFeo who was 12). Well, Scott was invited to sleep over, but, for some reason (I don't remember what he told me 44 or so years ago), he couldn't go. His friend was murdered along with the whole DeFeo family that night killed by eldest son Ronny DeFeo who died a few years ago. That family is buried in the same cemetery as my father.
I've also dined at Bearslee Castle 3 times and it is allegedly haunted. I keep hoping to see a ghost.

Sadly, I moved far away so I haven't been to Beardslee Castle since about 2010-2011.
