Has wall to wall carpeting gone out of style for homes and apartments?

I like my new apartment, but it has this imitation hardwood floor look, but it looks like paper to me.
I asked the maintenance guy if it was paper and at first he said it's made from PVC; then I barked PVC? That causes cancer. So he changed his answer to Formica. It's not Formica! It's probably PVC but he didn't want to admit it in case I wind up with cancer. These people lie to the residents about everything. I think they've been watching joey lie for so long now everyone is doing it.

I've got it here on the top two floors and half of the basement and, we had it at my house, except for the kitchen, basement and bathrooms. Oh, and the third floor but, it WAS carpeted almost wall to wall.
But, I HAVE noticed the past 10 or 15 years that people are opening everything up, these days. Bare wood floors, no walls at all on the first floor so, the entire first floor is one big room and, if there's a large picture window in the front of the house, no curtains at all so, anybody going by can look right into your house and see everything you do and have! And, they have been putting framed glass doors on the house, too and leaving the inside door wide open (even all winter) so people can even look in there, too!
I fucking hate it!! I prefer separate rooms, carpets on at least SOME of the floors so the sound isn't echoing all over the house and, even though I'm pretty much an open book, I want my privacy!

Some of my friends are removing carpet and installing some type of wood floor. Account of allergies.

i see more hard flooring in apartments more than homes these days. yes some homes still have full hard floors, but at least some of the house is carpeted. i don't see the same in most new apartments. it's all hard flooring. this everything painted grey or weight and grey hard floors is really depressing and gross

I think most rentals don't put carpet in anymore just because it would so difficult to keep it clean. Similarly, I think most people that own have changed-out their carpets for hard floor surfaces to keep the space cleaner.

It's a laminate floor you have. Hardwood floors are definitely back in demand especially wide plank hardwood floors. Broadloom or wall to wall carpet is not in style.

I had carpet when I first had my house built because it was cheap. It is still used but hardwood I popular and the fake planking is getting popular.
