Is this a cold hearted thing to say to abusive parents?

my friend grew up with abusive parents, she doesn't love them at all but only goes back to them whenever she needs anything from them. She only uses them, doesn't care for them one bit because they've hurt her tremendously in the past. Despite the maltreatment, her parents still have a heart to help her. She said her parents were "good for nothing" lazy retired old people who just sit around , do nothing, contribute nothing to society sitting around, never paid taxes when they were young or old. She called them a "waste of life"

You didn’t live with their abuse. Just because her parents feel bad about it doesn’t undo the damage that was done. Feeling bad after doing something bad does not make the bad thing okay or worthy of forgiveness 100% of the time, especially if the bad thing was part of a repeating pattern she had to witness multiple times. She has the right to resent them and say those things because she experienced it first hand. You also have the right to say that she’s being unnecessarily cruel to them in saying that. Both individuals are completely valid in this case.

Not if they really hurt her and didn't treat her well

But I'm curious as to why they're helping her if they abused her

She clearly has strong feelings. That's understandable if she was abused as a child.
