I'm usually not judgmental about promiscuity. I'm not concerned about what other people do with their bodies. That's their business.

My friend has always been a bit of a slut. Which I've never judged her for. That's her business. But lately, it's different. Like, she's been having sex with like a different guy almost every day, with the hope that one of them will eventually want to date her. Every time I talk to her she has a new "potential boyfriend". It's really really sad. She gets her hopes up about every single one of these guys, thinking that they're going to fall in love with her, and everything will be wonderful. She just throws herself at every guy who shows any interest in her.

Well, she just told me something that has me worried about her. Some guy she barely knows invited her to move to a different state with him, and she's leaving with him on Monday. -_- She told me that she just really really wants him to be The One.

What do I say to her?

To clear it up for those who lack reading comprehension skills:

Before: She was normal. Still pretty easy. But not on this scale. Wasn't concerned because that's just how she is. Never thought anything of it. (this is normal)

About the last four months: She has unprotected sex with any guy who pays any attention to her. She lies about being pregnant. (this is sad)

First of all, don't refer to your friend as a "whore" or a "slut". Friends don't do that.

Second, she may be desperate to find love and is going about it in a wrong way. Tell her gently that you think she should wait to know a guy a bit more before deciding he's the one. Tell her you care for her and don't want her to get hurt. Tell her there's no rush, if he's the one they'll make it work even without her leaving right away. If she doesn't want to listen to you, then there isn't much you can do, except be there for her if things go wrong (sometimes people just need to make their own mistakes).

That's f***ing crazy. I would tell her not to move, because she doesn't barely know anything about this guy and that it's an irrational move. She should get to know this guy before anything as acting on impulse can lead to disaster.

Hmmm. I think I understand your concern for your friend as I have experience the same thing with one of my girl friend as well. Its tough because we care about them genuinely and we really can’t do much about their situations, other than just be with them when they needed us. You live and you learn. We can only do so much. I say just focus on yourself and your well being and probably pray for your friend. :)

She sounds like she has some serious emotional and psychological issues right now. Sometimes people go through stuff like this in their life. There's really not much you can do. She basically needs to somehow realize this is crazy and get counseling and turn this trend around. She might realize that soon if this guy turns out to be a disaster.

So we disagree that having sex with like 5 different guys a week hoping that one will suddenly want to be your boyfriend and getting hurt when they don't is desperate and slutty behavior? Ok. I'm not gonna pretend that isn't sad. Saying, "Oh yeah, there's nothing wrong with that." when she tells me these things isn't being a good friend. I know that I'm brash. I'm always bluntly honest. So I haven't said much to her about it because I don't know how to put the truth delicately.
