Ex girlfriend acting friendly after 2 years - why?

Hello,

Here is one for the ladies. I went out with this girl for close to a year and then we broke up, and it was a bad break up.. Anyways I tried to no avail to make it up to her (flowers, letters) but in the end decided to go NC.

Now we work together in the same corporation but we don't really see a lot of each other unless work forces us to. It's been very close to 2 years now since the break up and some things are occurring. In the past as I said there has been very little to no contact (mainly emails) and when we do email it's just work. Well for the last week we have been chatting more via email. Like really friendly. She has even started to use her pet name for me again, a name she hasn't used since we broke up (her choice to break up btw).

So ladies...what's the deal? What does she want? Is this making first contact to initiate a move on my part? Or some weird lady thing? Any info please.

Ok, an update.i emailed her back, used her pet name (on work email it's our own pet names) and she replied back. So after the weekend I dropped off her materials she requested and I saw her but she was distant (I thought she didn't want to act weird in front of co-workers) and I sent her an email ... No reply. So I sent another friendly email yesterday, ... No reply! Now she is gone cold! What's with this hot and cold crap. Any clues? (1/ she is not dating I found out, 2/ she is focused on work)

Update: she went 'hot' again, even apologized for not repling and wrote "thank you for thinking of me". So it was then when I asked her out to have lunch and just catch up. ... So now she is is ignoring the personal email I sent her. What's her deal? (I have an idea, just want to know what you girls think). Thanks too! :)

Well it could be that's she just want to be friends some girls prefer to be friends with their ex boyfriends or it could be that's she just being friendly to avoid awkwardness in the workplace! She might still have feelings for you now she is initiating it but I would say lay it safe to avoid disappointment in the end! Try using your pet name you used on her and she wot her reactions gona be towards that and I would advice you to rather wait for er to make the first move in todays society girls ask guys out hey...

Is been two years. She's over it. She probably assumes you are too. You guys have to work together, even if it is rarely. So if you gotta work together you might as well be civil about it and not make it awkward. I think she's just being friendly. You should be friendly back. Maybe take a lunch together or something and catch up. Maybe it's me of the rare circumstances where beng friends withy he ex works out.
