Why does my guy friend always cockblock me?

Whenever I go out with my guy friend he always manages to cockblock me. Its not that I want to go home with every guy I meet at a club or bar, but I don’t understand why he interferes every time I simply talk to someone. A few times I’ve gotten asked is he my boyfriend, because he apparently gives any guy I talk to the evil eye. While he always finds a way to prevent me from chatting or dancing with someone, he has no problem picking up a girl and then telling me how great she seems.

Because we are really close friends and our families are quite close, I don’t know what I should do, or how I should address the issue. We have known each other for around 5 years, and he is one of the few people who act perfectly normal around me despite my medical issues. I know that I fit his usual “type” (petite, long blonde hair, green eyes), and we have always gotten along great, but he never made a move on me. Does he like me or is he just being a protective “big brother”?

I call BS! He has no problem picking up girls but he messes up your chances with potential relationships! SOUNDS LIKE A CONTROLLING PSYCHO DOUCHE BAG to me... Gah.. WHO DOES HE THINK HE IS!? This does not mean he has feelings for you, this means he's a controlling manipulative idiot who's with other chicks while expecting you to be "his girl".. what a crock of sht... *throws up in her mouth a little*

It is clearly to see that he is in love with you and also very very afraid + jealous to see you being attracted to someone else. The problem here is that he somehow wants to show you that he loves you, but maybe he is not sure if you feel the same about him so he doesn't want to ruin the friendship by telling you he loves you. I would like to ask you if you like him? Or do you really see him just as a friend?

I liked him all through high school, and in many ways I still have feelings for him, but I’m worried that telling him how I feel could ruin the friendship and/or make it awkward for our families. If I knew that he likes me back, and isn’t simply being protective, it would make things so much easier

Aha I don't think he is trying to be protective. Why don't you just ask him why is he trying to stop you from some things? I really think he likes/loves you

he likes you and is being protective at the same time if that makes sense, does he drop any hints that's he is interested in you in other than a friend.

It sounds like your friend is in love with you, and is too afraid to make a move. The fact you hit on other guys around him has already told him you don't see him that way, but he keeps hoping that will change.
