Do...wear what you love

There are so many people that get their panties in a twist over what someone else is wearing on their own body. Their clothing choice, aka, your clothing choice, is not about or for them, it's about and for you. If you love something or a certain style and feel you can make it work, then work it.

Don't...feel like there is nothing for you

I'd be lying if I said plus sized clothing is super easy to find and available everywhere. It can be really tough for anybody in plus sizing to find clothes that not only fit, but look attractive or trendy as well, but please don't just give up and throw the towel in at every opportunity or worse, get down on yourself over it. I recommend to anybody of any sizing from petite to tall to plus, when you have the time, it is well worth it to put in some leg work online or in person to find a brand or stores that cater to you. Not just random mall stores, but really look for someone who doesn't just put out the same boring cover ups, but really and truly cares about plus fashion and understands your styling needs.

Do...look to fashion blogs/Instagram for inspiration

Many magazines only really cater to below plus sizing so it can be hard to imagine yourself in the latest style without that visual in front of you. Go online and comb the blogs and Instagram and find a blogger/stylists style that you adore and follow them. It can be a real boost to see someone rocking something you didn't think you could rock and then going out and trying it yourself. Additionally, they post where they bought it from, so the work is done for you.

Don't...wear baggy clothes to try and cover up

So many people are under the wrong impression that if you want to hide something about your body, the best way to do it is to just dump a whole bunch of dumpy lumpy ill fitting fabric over it and hope no one notices. Uh...no! Let's just use a bit of logic on this one. If I take a straw and insert it into an orange, does that straw look bigger or smaller than before? There are so many much more attractive ways to disguise something about yourself that you may not be as confident about. Don't like your middle, wear a structured fitted jacket with a top underneath with layered ruffles. Not a fan of your bum, hide it under a top that is longer to cover or under an A-line skirt that flairs away from the body. Would rather not show off your arms, show off your gorgeous shoulders in a cold shoulder top with three quarter sleeves.

Do...find and wear your size

You, and everyone else, needs to know what size they are. Part of the frustration of shopping is just having to try and make a wild guess what size you can fit. Get your measurements taken and absolutely get a bra fitting. This will allow you to be able to shop online with more confidence and find clothes that actually will work for you. Additionally, I've said it a million times, but just because something does not fit off the rack, does not mean there is no hope for you wearing it. Buy clothing to fit the biggest part of you, meaning a top that fits your bust, and pants/shorts/skirts that fit your rear, and then take it to a tailor to get rid of bulk in the shoulders, that horrendous gap on the backs of jeans or to nip it in if you have a smaller waist.

Don't...shy away from color

One of my pet peeves is seeing plus sized women who feel that they can only ever wear black and only because they feel it hides everything. That to me, is a sad way to live. Color makes you feel good, look vibrant and alive, and styled correctly, it can hide just as much as black can if that is your desire. You exist and should not fall into a black hole because you believe that is the only way.

Do...buy clothes for the size you are right now

If weight loss is your goal, good for you, but don't stop living on the way down. Living in a constant state of maybe, or if and when, or in a years time you should, blah, blah, can be really defeating. No matter your size, buy clothes now that make you look and feel confident and good about yourself. Don't just buy a bunch of stuff that's 5 sizes too small because what if you don't get there...are you going to get down on yourself and feel yourself not worthy because of a dress size?!? That's stupid. Buy a few items now at your size if you are working hard to get to point X, and then a few more when you get to your next size, but don't stop living in the process.

Don't...let anyone steal your shine

You can be stylish. Say it. Believe it. Live it. It can be the hardest thing in life to learn to love yourself and believe you can have style, but it can be done if you allow yourself to know your worth and that fashion and style are not just for size 00s, it's for every "body." That's not some hokey body positivity under the rainbow stuff, but more the reality of being on this planet. If you don't believe in yourself, and love yourself, no one else is going to.
