Maybe some need the 'validation' or the 'look' like they can afford to pay for some BS label at 4 times the price of the same, functional thing.
I like what I like, and hate the Bullshit of paying because so 'designer' has their name on it!
Seems like a phony sense of self-worth, and reinforcing some social status thing, like if you can afford to pay for that, then you are rich, or have some status.
I don't need that nonsense in my life, and the people I like to call friends are just as grounded and sensible.
Value for the money, and not some nonsense!

I don’t know anyone that wears designer. Whoever pay 100$ for a t shirt is mental. Or has so much money they don’t know what to do with it. But you don’t see people like bill gates wearing that shit cause he doesn’t need to show off his money. He’s actually rich rich. None of that pretending to be rich bullshit.
I don't know, but it's definitely free advertising for those labels. They are laughing about the suckers that buy their stuff as they go off to deposit their millions in their bank account. I will wear no clothes that advertise someone's product unless they give it to me free.
Think it's a social thing. Want to show off that they have enough money to buy expensive brands. I guess you could argue they feel insecure and want validation by attaching themselves to an big and expensive brand such as clothes

I believe they need something, that flashes with having the money to buy such expensive items.
Hell, you could sell anything for a high price. If it's known and it's expensive, then people, who own that item will passively flash with that wealth to the others.
However very many people must know about your item you put up for sale for a very high price.
Remember that banana taped to the wall "art" gimmick, that was sold for $120.000?https://www.gq.com/story/suddenly-the-koons-is-this-100k-banana
That's the point. Except I am not sure why would anyone do that instead of buying from Gucci, Jimmy Choo or Lou Vuitton 100 times.Because people know designer brands are overly expensive so when they wear a brand that's covered in a designer logo it's basically saying "hey look at me and these clothes I paid an extortionate amount of money for, don't you wish you had less money in your account like me?" Personally I think it's dumb, its the reason why 'designer' brands put their logo on 90% of the items. People tend to forget that it's advertising, they're literally a walking billboard 😂
It's how you get ahead in this social game we call life. They show themselves to be of higher status/importance by repping material items that are hard to gain access to. So poor people will look up to them, and the rich will view them as one of their own. Visually establishing a secure foothold into the upper classes of society.
I agree with you. First, it's like you are a billboard giving free advertising. Second, something that is well made and looks good is one thing. But brandishing the name of a brand seems like conspicuous consumerism. It's like saying "Look how much this cost."
I think it stupid to.
Now if Congress and the Senate would wear logos of what companies sponsored them. Then we know who they sold out to.
Say they wore thisWe would know that they sold out to big tobacco companies
i think its a way of showing that they are interesting because they are wearing something seen as popular or superior from other brands to make up for their lackluster when wearing regular clothes
Brands you mentioned are pathetic really. They have lost their reputation.
That is such a basic human condition, I'm surprised people actually fall for that trap
Because they are idiots.
It has to do with one’s personality.
Yea the only logo I'd wear to school is Bangbros
Most do that as a status symbol.
It’s so tasteless! Agree 100%
Cuz it makes them look wealthy
