Wait... is SHE supposed to be "fat?"

Okay... so I was on an online forum, presumably a pretty toxic one, and the topic at hand was whether it was "okay" or not for "fat" women to wear revealing clothing or show skin. And one of the people attached the photo of the woman above, saying something like: "Do you REALLY wanna see elephants like this wearing such skimpy outfits such as this? How can a woman who looks like THAT leave the house dressed like that and feel absolutely no shame?"

And I was just like... WHAT? Is that literally not just an average or normal body type? She definitely isn't super skinny, but she most definitely doesn't look "fat" to me either. She does have somewhat of a belly, but then again, so do a lot of people. I wouldn't even consider it a bad thing, just some extra softness. Her belly definitely doesn't look excessive to me either.

Honestly, I'd refer to her as "curvy." She has big boobs and relatively wide hips, only her waist is a normal size instead of super thin. Which makes sense. Usually curvier women won't be super skinny.

Also... my own body type is quite a bit "fatter" compared to hers, so if she's "fat" what does that make me... lol...

I'll also get this out there, I'm bisexual and her body type is honestly kind of ideal to me. She's in pretty good shape overall, yet looks like someone who can enjoy pasta and beer and just chill. She isn't supermodel attractive or anything, but I like more average looking girls since they're more welcoming and relatable to me. I find the supermodel types too intimidating/unapproachable anyway, lol.

No fat is something complete different. That is someone who has upper legs like the size of my entire body.. who is never leaving the sofa because she ( or he ) just can't. Someone who weight 350 kilos.

Ok this is extreme but i wonder... I see very healthy girls with a size more just like my lady and they are called plus size.

I rather see those girls than the skinny models who follow diet after diet because they have to.

It doesn't matter if someone is considered fat or not. How you present yourself all comes down to what people expect to see of you. Just like pimples are not really healthy or attractive, a big belly is not really healthy or attractive either. Nor is having a tattoo on your forehead that says something like: "Fuck me". I'm not hateful towards anyone at all, but I think that this idea of presenting yourself however you'd like is not good for society. We should have standards. Humans are prejudiced and you can already notice the sudden rise in hateful behaviour towards people with colored hair for example. This is because people expect a certain behaviour or attitude to go along with that person's look. It's wrong to think that and I get it, but we can't change that part of society. So why provoke those reactions if you can also just cover up a bit more?

You're right, she isn't "fat". For some reason we've been conditioned to believe that being as skinny as a praying mantis is somehow "normal" in size, even though being too skinny can be just as unhealthy as being overweight. Besides, she's probably healthier than most women or people in general anyway if she's a boxer, as that image suggests.

"Curvy" is a euphemism invested by the PC crowd to express acceptance of girls who are overweight. Using a new word doesn't mean she isn't fat.

There are varying degrees of obesity. This woman is not morbidly obese, but she is definitely overweight. The fact that many other women are also overweight does not change the fact that she is overweight. And it is not attractive.

"A lot of visible fat?" I mean... to each their own I guess, but I just don't see it. Her stomach may not be 100% flat, but I don't even know anyone with a flat stomach in real life anyway.

Besides her stomach, the only other "visible fat" I see would be her boobs... but she basically just has naturally large boobs. Usually women with big boobs won't be super skinny though.

At least you admit she doesn't look dangerously fat though. At worst she's only VERY slightly overweight... but slightly overweight is fine. If it becomes significantly overweight that can be a huge issue, but just slightly usually won't cause any issues. Same with someone who is underweight... slightly vs significantly.

No way is she fat! There's way too much pressure on girls to be completely annorexic I feel. That is a very normal woman with beautiful curves, she's a long way from being 'fat'

100% agree, honestly! Basically read my mind, haha. The anorexic trend is definitely a terrible one.

On the other hand though, I've also seen people taking the whole "fat acceptance" thing a bit too far. Like in general of course we should respect people regardless of their weight. But I've also seen people glorifying being fat or like it's something to strive for, and also shaming skinnier girls in the process. The anorexic trend is a terrible one, but I've also seen the pendulum swing too far in the other direction too.

In general... just a "healthy" body type is the best one. Which usually means not too underweight, not too overweight. Different people have different bodies, so "healthy" may vary from person to person, but being too underweight or overweight can lead to several health problems in the long run.

As for the girl in the picture though... looks totally fine and healthy to me. At WORST she looks just VERY slightly overweight, but just barely even then. She just looks normal to me. Her stomach may not be 100% flat, but I honestly don't even know anyone with a flat stomach... lol.

That is not true. Some of us are naturally skinny and that has nothing to do with pressure of anything. Being overweight is related to a lot of health issues and that is science not social pressure

@Andro36 agree that is the case for SOME people. But others aren't blessed with a naturally fast metabolism. Society is telling a section of girls that if you aren't <60kgs then you're overweight and need to starve yourself. There's so many more factors to health and whether someone needs to change their diet and exercise than the number you see on the scales
