Does having short hair make a woman look ugly and unpresentable in public?

Question

So I wanted a hair cut and my hair curled. But my mom says no. The only reason why I'd think she wouldn't let me have a hair cut is because she thinks short hair looks ugly and woman aren't supposed to have short hair. I don't see any other reason. I don't have any money so it's up to her on what happens to my hair. She always told me that my natural hair looks ugly and unpresentable in public. I've always been taught that it's okay to be fat, that being fat was cool, and it's acceptable. Hell, most of my aunts, grandmothers and a few other of my female family members were fat or obese and they all still had boyfriends/ husbands or people who accepted it so why can't a woman wear her hair short, wear her natural curls, or Afro in public yet it's okay to be fat? It's better to be fat than to wear your actual hair in public? Would you rather your girlfriend have short hair or be fat and out of shape? Just a rant. But do you guys think short hair is unacceptable for a woman?

Something isn't right with that. Though I do believe that you shouldn't cut your hair, I doubt your hair looks ugly. I say that with everything so far you've posted up with your family, you live a very dysfunctional life. And I believe you cutting your hair is a sign of you wanting freedom and feeling very low in your self-esteem. Long hair is beautiful. But I must warn you that not every woman can work with short hair. Certain hair length and styles just don't work for certain people and you may grow to regret it later. You overall should NOT be fat. But working out to maintain a healthy weight and with help with a doctor and nutritionist is best. And it also depends on how short and what style you're going for your face. Short hair on overweight people don't look their best and not great.

it doesn't make u unpresentable, but guys really dont like the short hair too much. I've got a pixie cut now and i hate it, guys seem to not like it at all, but girls think its cute 🙄 but im sure a guy would pick a thin girl with short hair than a fat girl with long pretty hair

If you want short hair then get short hair.

Your mum can tell the hairdresser whatever but you just let the hairdresser know what YOU want, theyll cater to the person getting the cut. Especially since you're not a child.

Short doesn't look bad on a girl. I feel a girl should wear her hair the way she wants to. I know how parents can past judgment on their child. When my late mom was living i was about age 11-13 my mom would blame me for being overweight and she was mad cause I couldn't find pants to wear. Well she
was the one who left me go back for seconds i know it's not easy.

It doesn't look ugly but kind of odd since most girls have long hair. I like girls for personality so I doubt that her being fat or having shirt hair would bother me because I usally fall for her looks after I fall for her personality.

I would say it depends on how it looks on the person. For some people long hair looks better on them, others I think short hair looks better on them, and for me medium length is a better choice
