I suck at talking to guys that I'm interested in. Help?

I'm really shy, and just generally socially awkward... but there's this guy that I'm interested in, and when I talk to him I tend to get a little tongue tied and more awkward than normal.
I'd really really like to be able to have a normal, intelligent conversation with him, but I get flustered, and self-conscious, and start rambling on about nothing...
He's older than me so he maybe (?) picked up on the fact that I'm attracted to him, but he also thinks that he bothers me... How can I let him know that he doesn't bother me, and have a decent conversation with him?

I hear you. I'm shy and socially anxious, too. But when I talk to attractive guys, I tend to blank out and not know what to say. Since you tend to ramble, try to slow down and just breathe. It's okay to feel nervous around this guy, and shyness can actually be a really cute trait as long as you use it to your advantage.

Take some pressure off of yourself by letting him guide the conversation. Don't focus so much on talking; instead, focus on using your facial expressions and body language to express yourself and your interest -- make eye contact, smile, nod, look at him like he's weird, laugh, pick up on the little things he says and question them, really think before speaking, etc. Just slow down and relax. You'll seem more composed and articulate this way.

As far as letting him know that he doesn't bother you, you could give him some kind of a compliment. Or just smile a good amount when you're talking with him.

Some guys really like shy girls.. he is probably attracted to you to which is why he brought up the whole thing about thinking he bothers you. I have a hard time too. So just kinda go with the flow and don't overthink it.. talk about whatever like you have been. Next time it comes up - the whole he think he bothers you thing - just let him know that he doesn't bother you.

you are a girl, so as long as you are slender and well groomed you will be attractive no matter how socially awkward you are, for a girl a guy's social status matters, so he has to gain his status by becoming popular, at least within the qualities she feels attracted to, while girls have immidiate high status just by being attractive. alone, so if you take care of yourself, you can say the dumbest things, act the most stupid, and he will still be attracted, in fact he will think is a turn on, specially considering you are younger, it makes you look more innocent, because innocense equals you are not slutty which means you have more value

If you're worried about having nothing to talk about, try to find out what he is interested in? Perhaps you can pull of a conversation from that, and also gain his interest at the same time.
