My crush and I are both super shy, what do I do?

Alright, this actually isn't about me, but one of my friends.
Basically, he's really cute, but he's also fairly shy. Once you get to know him though he's super funny and a total sweetheart.
The girl he likes is really quiet and pretty shy. She's gorgeous and has a lot of friends.
The two of them have Engish together and he really really likes her. But he can never get up the guts to talk to her, they've spoken before but every time she's always started the convrsation. I've told him that before he can really do anything he has to talk to her and become friends, but he gets nervous every time he sees her. I really want to help him but I have no idea how I can. I can't even give him good advice because I've always been loud and outgoing, so I don't understand what it's like to be in his shoes. Please help me, personal experience and advice to give him would be amazing Thank you all!

As a shy guy, I can relate to him. In the past what I have done is simply said my feelings to the girl I like. Although, this can be very very difficult because there is always a chance that she doesn't like him back. So the best thing to do is this: Ask the girl if she likes him. If she doesn't, then it's probably best to leave them on their own path and wait it out. If she does like him though, tell him that she likes him to boost his confidence. With that confidence he should be able to share his feelings c:

I'm not really friends with her though. Like, we don't have anything against each other, we just never talk. So if I just randomly asked her if she liked him then it would 1. Be weird, and 2. Basically be telling her that he likes her

Well, if you're up for waiting a little bit, you could try to be her friend for a while and then sort of recommend him to her :/ It sounds weird but it might work. Basically get to know her, talk to her about guys she likes, then bring up the guy who likes her and talk about how cute he is, and then eventually say how you think they would be cute together.
