Why don't guys ever make the first move anymore!

What ever happened to the good ol' days when it was always the guys job to make the first move

I've learned about part of this in college. We as a society today rely too much on technology and have become less personable and we prefer to communicate over electronics than in person. This then translates over to traditional techniques of getting together with a person of interest. I know its frustrating, but its what the world is coming to.

But I hear ya, I could see where it could get frustrating. I'm a very traditional guy so I'm always making the first move. One just has to be patient and the guy will eventually get there, I guess.

I just think things are starting to switch. More and more girls are making the first move when it comes to dating, not that its a bad thing. But if a girl gets rejected she's more likely to get hurt, if a guy gets rejected its not as emotional...to my understanding that is

I would say that is a misconception. I recently asked a girl out and I didn't get a no, I just got a she already had plans (but she wasn't making excuses) and even so, I felt a little hurt. If it had been straight rejection, I would have felt terrible. Men feel strong emotions like women, they just don't show it as much.

Yes, society seems to be in this switch. The typical 'gender roles' are starting to switch. It seems to be correlating with what is going on in the world... cont in next comment..

i think anyone can make the first move these days it is 2010 so if you keen for someone go chat to them I know I'm always open person when girls approach me, I always see girls that just keep staring but need make a move...but I think I think 'the guy should make the move' is gone these days

Seems to be correlating with what is going on in the world right now. Gay rights, political change, etc. This is what sociologists call "social change". I guess it happens and we can't really do anything about it (if we wanted to).

Times have changed. If both sexes desire equality, courting cannot be excluded. There is no significant reason I can think of that makes girls making the first move on guys inappropriate or strange in any way.
