Why do some guys wait for women to make the first move?

I really like this Asian guy but I feel like I have to initiate things first. I've always been told that men should pursue women, but now they say it's OK for women to go for what they want. I feel that if a guy likes you they will let you know. I'm not sure if it's

a cultural thing. I feel torn but don't want to miss out on a good thing.

Yeah, I totally understand that you're coming from. I really really strongly dislike HATE even when I'm making thee first move. Even my mother says that the man should be make the first move, that he should ask you out. It's a cultural thing I think.

However, Asians nowadays, --well the newer generations-- are becoming more liberal, they are wanting the girl to make the first move. My boyfriend is asian, and I was the one that made the first move, and he even told me himself that he's likes it when I do the first move.

So, if you're getting the hint that he's into you then go for it! There's nothing to lose. Tell him that you like him, ask him out! =]

Yes, it is a cultural thing. He will wait for you to indicate whether you like him or not, which you can do by giving him a small gift of something. No matter how small.it's the thought that counts.

Most Asians have a certain protocol they will follow. Often a gift is an important part of it.

It's symbolic so dont' worry about how much you spend on it or anything like that.

well in my opinion I think guys are supposed to make the first move but most don't. due to the fact that no one likes being said no too. so he might just be scared you are going to back out. so if you keep doing the first moves I'm pretty sure he will get the point that ur not going to back out

Well, many guys get so many rejections from girls, that some guys always wait for a clear signal to make a move; if no clear signal is given, they stay away. Of course, it could be that the guy is really shy. You can always show some interest by doing a bit more flirtation with him---things like saying hi to him, giving him a smile, etc. If he doesn't get the hint, then maybe you do need to be more aggressive.

I think so many guys are afraid of being accused of harassment and the like, even if it's not at work. A lot of women get so angry so quickly if we approach them no matter how delicately, at times. It can be frightening, and I'm sure for an Asian guy even more frightening!
