Just out of curiosity, but I noticed that women these days seem to have no standards, and the few of us who do are written off as gold diggers or snobs in an effort to make us lower our standards.

Like for instance, if a woman wanted to wait say 6 months to a year to have sex, most men are not going to put in the effort to be with that women because other women are much more willing to open their legs. Why wait 6 months for one when you can have multiple within the span of a few days?

Or if a woman wants a man to make a certain amount of money, she's a gold digger. I know for me, I would want a man to make at least what I make because I do not want to be taking care of a grown ass man. However, I've been called a gold digger because of this (which is dumb. I'm a teacher and make less than $45,000 a year). Yet I know many women who are married, but their husbands make half of what they make, and the men like it because the responsibility of providing isn't really on their shoulders.

I had a friend who struggles in the area of looks, too. She's about average build and pretty, but men seem to only want thin white women. However, these guys are often overweight themselves and do not necessarily take care of themselves. But women are so desperate to want a man that they'll accept it. However, she and I both know that if she wanted a body builder guy then she'd be considered ridiculous.

Or the latest argument is women should pay for themselves on a date instead of the man paying. Not saying men should always pay, but for some reason women do not require guys to pay on the first date anymore. Women who do are seen as shallow.


These things weren't really even issue up until maybe 15 years ago.

First and foremost, women do not have low standards, they have abnormally high standards and they are growing. Surveys have shown women think 80% of men are "below average" in looks (an impossibility). Other studies have shown that women are wanting ever increasingly richer men, significantly more then previous generations despite the considerably less necessity of doing so. For example, you claim to want some one with as much money as you so you don't have to take care of them, but that of course isn't true because you wouldn't be taking care of them regardless. Men pay their own way and generally always have. 80% of all domestic spending (and 70% globally) is done by women despite them making only 30-40% of the total generated income. Women want men to pay for dates and generally speaking men always do (and they pay twice as much as women do for holidays, like valentines, on average). The fact is a man can live off of a hell of a lot less then women can so you wouldn't be supporting him. You want a richer man because you want a man with money (as you are biologically inclined towards). This is just a rationalization to justify the desire. As for the sex, no, if a man wants sex he will find it, if a man wants a relationship he will wait. Yes it doesn't help that women are willing to have sex so readily however they only do this for certain men, not all men and as such the only thing they would do is hinder the small percentage of men (if we go by the 80/20 rule, about 20% of men) who these women go after. If anything men need to raise their standards (by a substantial margin) in order to get women to actually contribute to a relationship more then their vagina (if and when they feel like it). We would also have to remove complete one sidedness of dating where men have all the responsibilities and women have none of them (as men are still expected to adhere to their traditional gender roles (as you pointed out, your not going to support him and he has to be self sufficient (even as he will inevitably spend most of his money on you (as this is how it all ways works))). We would also have to remove all the legal ramifications of marriage which burden ONLY men. Then women would have to start being nurturing, caring and loving i. e. feminine, which would allow men to soften themselves with women and have a real relationship instead of this utilitarian crap that has been pushed down the past two/three generations throats. If we did all of that, then men would take it seriously. But so long as they are the only ones burdened with responsibilities and expectations, they will continue to opt out of dating, of marriage, and go for the easier route of casual sex to fill the void that would otherwise have been filled with a loving commited relationship to a loving and commited woman.

But there's implications to your suggestion. Like why should I embrace someone who attempts to manipulate me like that?

The standards as they are teeter on unreasonable. Things like "makes at least as much as me" these are demands that are innately unworthy of the kind of person they ask for. The truth is, it’s not that women have low or high standards. It’s that they have misplaced standards.

Right now, women have high standards in regards to wealth. This is residual from traditional gender roles. Women have historically demanded men be the provider, so they must be high earners.

Without traditional gender roles, his income doesn’t matter as much since she’ll share the financial responsibility.

I think both men and women should raise their standards. What I noticed is that women have lower physical standards then men, and higher personality standards then men.
The only trait a women must have for a man to want her is good looks. It's unbelievable how driven men are by looks, when they get turned on they are capable of ANYTHING. In some ways I agree. But here are my thoughts. Women tend to date and dump man after man these days and vice versa with men dating and dumping women. I think we should first of all raise our commitment standards. If we don't do that, what are we really giving ourselves other than the prospect of meaningless sex, dead memories and regret? In that case, how much motivation can we expect men to have in their pursuit of long lasting love? We have made our commitment standards such that all we can really expect from a relationship is a temporal period of sex.

While men may see a breakup as a relief of responsibility, society and perhaps biology may cause them to be more likely to see it as an existential failure. They often don't find mates as easily as women tend to either. So I think we should present ourselves in a way that shows we are prideful in "making it work". Your salary is a poor argument for this "standard" If you made +100,000 your spouse would need a really high paying job just to make you happy. Now that you say this I wonder how many girls understand how guys make that distinction.

Often Tinder is not the medium for which we want to connect interpersonally. It’s just a replacement for going to the bar. It’s much more convenient than a bar, or w/e bs place people go to ‘meet singles.’

Often if I actually really like a girl I know shortly after meeting them. For them it doesn’t matter what transpires, I’d give them my full effort and have no remorse or fear of failure.

If men had equal standards as women do, most women wouldn't meet the requirements because most women have very little to offer in a relationship. All most of them have to offer is looks and that is because many men seem to think average or below average women are attractive. Maybe those ones are just desperate and that is why they over compliment so much and then the average woman thinks she is actually very good looking.

Yes. If women behaved more like women of old, and wouldn't put out and made guys court them, of course men would court them more, be more gentlemanly and the like.

Since a lot of today's women act like guys and give it up at age 15, and cuss and smoke and live the hook up culture... men really don't have to do that much.

I don't think women necessarily have low standards. I just think they have standards for the wrong things. Things like wanting to feel protected or the thrill in the first few minutes or first date get prioritized over emotional maturity and genuine caring. If they didn't make snap judgments on guys based on those things they wouldn't be able to allow shitty men to capitalize. Now guys are guilty of making snap judgments on things that don't matter too, but let's be honest, it cost much less for them to make a mistake than for women.

Women are all over the place, some have no self esteem or standards, and others have high ones. I think it's a hard time to be a human as there is no societal structure.

What makes men put more effort into dating is the amount of effort he thinks it'll take to get sex out of the woman. Sorry to be the one to admit it but at least for me it's true. The nice thing for me is that I'm not a creep and most women go along with me.
