Dating my teacher?

Question

So I had this crush on my teacher for like 2 years now. And since about a year it's been mutual (I think) for a year now.

I'm 18 and he's 28. So yes, there's a big age difference.

But he's always there for me, and he's always joking around with me. I'm like his favorite, and he calls me his star pupil all the time. I'm also moving away in a month, and he's already said he'd come and visit me and that we (as in us and my friends) should go out sometime. And that he wouldn't want us to lose contact after graduation.

I want like, him.. Well I want to date him, and I don't know if we match up. Get serious and stuff.

Any tips?

He may be just being friendly and nice as teachers can be. In fact, by seeing you as an untouchable student, he may feel more comfortable to make nice comments like "Let's keep in touch.".

I only hope this is the case, because a High School teacher that is crushing on a student is a teacher that shows very bad judgment. He's 28. He can find women his age or even women that are younger or older. Why would he be trying to date his students? Yes, I know, technically you will no longer be his student in June, but if the school board or the principal were to get wind of this, it would look very bad for him.

I would be very unhappy if my daughter were to be (when she gets to H.S.) macked on by a High School teacher. I would recognize that he was using his position of power and authority to prey on young women and it would be disturbing to me. I just hope that he is not this type of man.

Well...it's definitely possible. I dated my professor. I was 19 and he was 26, not quite as big of an age difference but still. I also knew that he liked me when I was in his class. He would always sit next to me in class (it was a conference style classroom) and would scribble notes on my book for me. He didn't ask me out while I was still his student, but after the semester ended, he saw me in the computer lab with a friend, approached me and asked me out :) So, follow your gut feelings.

Dont date your teacher he seems to close then a teacher should be. He may seem all sweet and there for you. But it could be a trick, and he knows it gets to you. He might even try to RAPE you. Don't trust him. and don't believe nothing he says. Man if I was you I would tranfer out of his class , he's suppose to be teaching not firlting, getting his freak out by looking at you. Oh hell naw I would leave, he'll never see me again.

number one, if you really want to...wait till teh school year is over...number two, can you please ask yourself WHY the hell a 28 year old would want to hang out with a bunch of 18 year old girls...really THINK about that for a second

and um 10 year difference is huge, not that it wouldn't work, if you were lets say 25 and he was 35 then ok sure its different you're in a different mind state, but sh*t you havne't even hit college yet AND you're moving...hes almost 30 and you're JUST of age...i duno seems weird to me, I mean sh*t sure 18 year old girls are attractive (im 23) but I mean I duno if I could or would want to date an 18 year old chick...i know some pretty chilla nd mature 19 year old girls, but still I mean I duno...thast just my opinion

Honestly he's your teacher and it should stay that. He could get in a lot of trouble with the school board and all types of things.

The part where you said he's always there for you and he said "Don't lose contact with me after graduation."

To me, that is what all teachers do, they are there for you, and the whole stay in contact with me after your school is what a lot of them say to be nice.

That is my opinion though, and also I think that if he was to really do something to you like more then just teacher/student wise then he is just taken advantage of you.

together first, so that you can be considered as adult. If you don't do that, people see a problem because of the age difference and where you stand. Legally, you are an adult, but people will see you as a child because you act like a child. Also, he would look bad if he dated you now, because it's look like he's taking advantage of you... So, Just to conclude...

1) Talk to him about how he feels.

2) See what he feels

3) Put your life together (goto College or Uni so you get provide for yourself)

4) Ask him for a date

There is a huge difference between a 28 year old and an 18 year old maturity wise.  You may sense something there and he may actually have feelings for you, but he's a teacher and its inappropriate to date a student.  Definitely do not date him now, but maybe in a while after your out of school if something happens it won't be as bad.  But I'm warning you he probably knows good and well how to manipulate a young teenage girl and her fancies in whatever way he desires.  I recommend you don't date him unless you at least reach your 20s, two years may seem like a bit, but he'll be 30 by the time your 20 and his and your interests may change by then.  In all honesty though you probably shouldn't date him at all even if you do like him...

If you really want an honest answer, you should rephrase the question. What is it that you're trying to ask?

1) Are you asking is it ok for you to date your teacher?

2) Are you asking the best way to as to how to ask your teacher about where you stand in terms of a romantic relationship?

3) Are you just confused as to how your teacher feels about you?

Do not date your teacher. One, he is far too old for you. Two, he could lose his teaching license if anyone found out. Three, you're probably seeing something that isn't there.

I highly doubt he'd date a student because if that word gets out his entire professional career is going to be marked.

It's not uncommon to suffer from teacher envy. You'll get it over it once you meet guys your age.

maybe your'e making too much of it. What if he just likes you as a really good friend and student. I doubt he does, but he's 10 years older than you, I mean if he were only 5 or 6 years older maybe it would work but IDK.
