What does it mean when a guy says "Just kidding"?

well I'm still really good friends with my ex boyfriend. and he does this thing where he jokes around and then covers it up by saying just kidding...does that mean he really is kidding or its it a way of hm trying to be honest...its like he almost told he still likes me but then he was like gotcha! does that mean he s scared?

Yup, youve got it. he's scared to tell you he likes you. like, he finally gets the guts to tell you he likes you, tells you, and gets scared. just observe and see what he's gonna do, because he may not be sure of his feelings

well i was talking to this dude and i said im more fun to talk to in person and he said call me sometime then said just kidding I don't know if he was serious or was scared that i would reject him
