Why would a girl invite her friends to a 2nd date?

So the first date was good. She agreed on the second date. And when I finally asked her if Sunday evening was good, she replied saying:

"Yes, just tell me the place and time? I have a couple of friends who might join us"

I replied:

"Sure, I would like to meet your friends. But I would also like just the two of us to spend some time on our own - they can join us later. Does 8pm at XYZ suit you?"

So I have two questions:

Firstly, why would a girl want to bring friends to something she knows is a date?

Secondly, was my reply to her text okay?

goodness I will never get why girls do this, or why the girls friends will agree to going with her. it just makes it an awkward situation for someone, if not everyone. the only thing I can figure is that she likes you, and she is nervous, so she wants to bring her friends for some support. I liked your answer as well, you were straight to the point, and its sexy when a guy is able to do that. good luck!

Dude... she's gonna finesse you. Why would she bring her friends on a date that was not a double date? You should have declined it when she had said that.
