Women underestimate their attractiveness whereas men are overly complacent about theirs. In general, women are much more concerned about their appearance than men are. The key reason for this is that their appearance is central to how they are evaluated by others.
#Women also spend huge amounts of money on clothes, cosmetics, and other products and services that enhance their physical appearance.
We see this quite clearly in connection with the slender standard of attractiveness where women wish to be more slender than men find attractive.
As you had mentioned about few users. The answer is BDD. BOTH genders have this Disorder.
kidshealth.org/.../P-bodyDysmorph-enHD-AR1.jpg
#BDD is a body-image disorder characterized by persistent and intrusive preoccupations with an imagined or slight defect in one's appearance.
People with BDD can dislike any part of their body, although they often find fault with their hair, skin, nose, chest, or stomach. In reality, a perceived defect may be only a slight imperfection or nonexistent. But for someone with BDD, the flaw is significant and prominent, often causing severe emotional distress and difficulties in daily functioning.
It's reality. Ladies Thanks for reading my opinion. Girls Thanks Downvotes.
Hope it Helps. 😊🇮🇳 #GoodIndian
Although I voted girls, guys can also be as insecure. While the social norm is that guys shouldn't care about their looks, evolution says otherwise.
While there are some women who will marry for money, they are surprisingly far and few in between. Tiger Woods' ex wife initially did not want to date Tiger... in fact, she declined his advances on more than one occasion. Alex Smith, QB for the Kansas City Chiefs, was rejected by his wife initially.
A surprising number of guys will spend a lot of money on wardrobe, plastic surgery, lipo, etc. The girls still outweigh the guys in terms of surgeries like rhinoplasty and chin implants, but there is a good percentage of guys who go under the knife as well.
These are mostly guys who are already attractive and are told so many times and they feel there is like 1 or 2 things holding them back. These are the ones most likely to get surgery. For guys who have several things holding them back they usually don't opt for surgery.
But yes... it's still women by a large margin, but I feel that men are closing the gap.
Definitely girls, myself included. I'm very insecure just because of my early influence from magazines etc. We've been so affected by social media from an early age to look pretty and look a certain way. We're taught to look youthful, perfect and feminine and even look a certain way that's supposed to be the most beautiful according to society. Full lips, small nose, big eyes, cheekbones that could cut through glass, hence why so many instagram girls look the same and also why a lot of women get botox etc. But I definitely think social media has started to effect guys lately and made them insecure as well.
Girls are way more insecure we always have to listen to the sentence "you need to lose more weight to look good in the summer" or similar sentences, sometimes I'm just done being a girl because girls are mostly misunderstood or sometimes not taken serious when you're defending yourself. When you're defending yourself all guys say "calm down, stop making a fuss about small things" when they're being rude to you. You're getting told by guys that you should shut up and not make a fuss about something when you're just defending yourself !
Actually, i matters form individual to individual seeing how they are told. The majority thinks that girls are, but the reason behind that would probably be because girls are usually open-mouthed. The talk before thinking. Guys are... well. They dont just say out anything or everything and they have an amazing way of hiding it. What makes us insecure is the society, the judgments. And that applies to all the genders.

The progressive west has made men into pretty boys. So they are now as insecure as girls.
Appearances are everything now for men and girls. Such a shame.
Although it is more pronounced in girls, men are pressured into looking like boy band material. Justin beiber backstreet boys shit. If you as pretty as them, you deserve an equally pretty girl.
Because, equality right? Its more fun if its a peer that you are equal with in social standing and status and looks.
I dont know when that shit started i just know it turned boys into metrosexuals
I think it's mostly girls... my reasoning is this (and I mean as a general rule of thumb not just all the time), guys don't spend near as much time actively seeking to improve their appearance the way girls do. Many girls spend 15 or more minutes a day on their makeup routine, and many others have whole work out routines set up so they can maintain or atain the "perfect body."
Maybe guys are equally insecure but the way they respond to those feelings of insecurity are much less... observable so to speak.
It's hard to say. Women are kind of famous for it, but I know men go through a lot of body shaming nonsense too.
I feel really lucky that the age I am, and where and how I grew-up, I got a lot more messages about finding my sense of self-worth in my creativity, intelligence, basic decency as a person.
I did not feel a lot of heavy pressure to look different except when I became this giant awkward girl with boobs all of a sudden when all my friends were these tiny gymnasts. Suddenly people started treating me like I was 5 years older, or 10. It was a very strange time.
I have had people try to shame and bully me over my body, even at this age, but since I look in the mirror and know I am a stone fox, it usually just rolls off. Don't like me? Don't look?
Both. It's a misconception that only females are concerned with appearance. I do think males are just as insecure, though they may be better at hiding it. It's also possibly easier for them to hide it based on their trends being far removed from the demanding female head-to-toe aesthetic. Males will have much simpler trends that stick to hair styles and clothing in general forms, not body shapes (weight and proportion trends), hair-colors (and multicolor techniques such as balayage, streaks, chunks, highlights, hombre, white-silver bleach hair death, etc) and make-up (don't even get me started).
I think girls because more of them is on display. Boobs are easier to see than a dick. Plus, there's a whole industry dedicated to making girls prettier (the makeup industry). But plenty of guys are insecure as well. But I think its more of a symptom of caring about what people think. Guys and girls may have the same low opinion of their self worth, but they react differently. The girl could react like "Oh my god, I need to lose weight or I'm worthless!" Whereas guys have more of a tenancy to react callously and say "i may be fat, but fuck all y'all. I don't give a shit what you think. you can fight me if you have a problem with it." Both have a poor self image. one cares, the other doesn't.
Also guys are more agressive about fixing things, so if a guy wants to shape up, he's 100% in, girls might settle for 80%. So girls are slower to fix the issue, leading to them feeling insecure for a longer period of time.
Oh... girls are?
I'd beg to differ - if any of these people who voted ever read 5 questions on here... they've seen at least 4 about detailed penis descriptions and insecure searches for approval...
Haha
I think women but I did have a eating disorder when I was a kid and watched way too much anime I would do insane work outs.
Also steroids is like one of the most used illigal drug's. Which guys are using for looks and not sporting reasons.
Eating disorders are quite common in sports as they try to achieve a particular body shape to fit with its demands
Well let's keep it simple, girls always try too hard (not that i donr like) but for ever they always working on their beauty. Now guys either u look good or u look good lol. I mean try wearing make up and not be judged by a pathetic/racist society? 🤔
Due to media (magazines, tv etc...) both sexes have become insecure as to what they see, read or here about gibes them expectations of what they should look like. Women tend do under go a lot more procedures than men, however a lot of men are still suffering low self esteem (especially when it comes to approaching women for some odd reason)...
I think they're about the same. It only seems like women are more insecure because it's long been acceptable for them to express their insecurities. Men still aren't allowed this in the US. If you take a look at "how do I approach her" and "does she like me" questions by men on this site, you'll find a plethora of "man up" and "stop being a pussy" type comments from both genders.
Any "reasons" for guys to feel insecure about their looks wane in comparison to the number of them that girls have - some being reasonable and some not so much.
Women care more about a guy's personality, character, values, social status, intelligence.
It's not that guys have no reason to take care of themselves in the looks department, it's just that they have a lot less to lose than women if they're not physically appealing to them.
P. S. Asking to be rated isn't exactly proof of insecurity.
I've actually read and heard that men are much more insecure than women. I think people forget that men worry about how they look. It isn't a girl thing to hate yourself.
I can't even say one gender has it more than the other, cause sadly it seems like basically everyone has insecurities... Its so sad to see since I don't have any. I'm not perfect looking either I just embrace the flaws and make it better. Of the world and everyone in it wasn't so pressured by society we would all be perfect in our own standards. FUCK THE HATERS.
Maybe it's more obvious with girls than boys, but we're just all the same as humans.
I love the way you think. I am single and i like you.

Women are the most self conscious.
Although masculenity standards are fairly demmanding, females are just bombarded with media telling them they NEED to look a certain way to be attractive since the time they come into the world. Very taxing on anyones psyche and explains a higher insecurity in females than males.
girls, because society puts a lot more pressure on them. A lot of businesses make money from these insecurities and promote them. A great example of this are make up companies, brainwashing girls from a young age that they need make up to be beautiful. Im not saying guys have insecurities- I'm just saying that girls are way more insecure about themselves. Im jealous that guys don't have to worry about a lot of things that girls have to worry about everyday.
Exactly ! Guys don't have to listen to the sentences like "you look better when you're wearing make up" or "are you on your period again?" Or "stop being so hypocritical" or "ugh another feminist" I could count thousands of other rude sentences
girls. it may seem like guys are hella insecure about their dicks but o. m. g. girls dont have penises. and if they did, im p sure that theyd be equally as insecure about them, if not more. eating disorders in girls are WAYYY higher than guys
Why did you steal my first name 😂 ?
@Naruto_Uzumaki lol twins. U like anime too? <3333333333
Yes I do and do you like detective Conan?
@Naruto_Uzumaki never heard of it
Took you long enough to answer but whatever I won't disturb you anymore
@Naruto_Uzumaki srry, this quick enough now? lol
Whatever got no time for people that mock me for having mental health problems and being a sensitive person I'll block and report you now have fun making jokes about other people and not apologizing !!!
the fuck is this girl talkin about
wow she blocked me, niiiiiiice. some people, sigh
I honestly think both are. I'm not a mysoginist, I just had a lot of childhood issues (my mom was a selfish bitch, whom I always tried to please and never was satisfied) and because of this I grew up thinking that all women are like this. However, now I think both are equally insecure (even though I'm a little inclined to say men)
Is it wrong? I'd be glad to see it is.
Our Culture has gauged a women's worth based on their appearance for a long time, and usually when they are successful they are never talked about unless they are attractive. It's one of the reasons Oprah is so popular to older women, because she occasionally tries to sell them miracle advice or enhancements, to make them seem younger or give them some sort of resolve that they can appear young based on how they act.
definitely girls. Thats why they put so much make up on to hide their face. And then make it harder for the real women out there.
Of course girls are more insecure. That is the reason why I never criticize girl's appearance. If someone says something bad about her looks, she can pretend to be cool and that she doesn't matter, but the truth is that she does.
If someone will criticize my appearance and call me ugly I would laugh at this person and quickly forget. If someone will criticize girl's appearance she can ignore or striking back in any case she would suffer because of that.
Im really insecure about my looks, i dont like myself at all but i dont really do anything about it.
Maybe you need to find ways to accept yourself. Self loathing is a bad thing
Other people accept me but i cannot live with myself. I've been cyberbullied and stuff...
That's terrible no wonder your self esteem is low
Girls. It's not equally. Girls care much more about how they look than guys other than their genitals. Guys are fucking obsessed with their penis for stupid fucking reasons. Their dick is sometimes more important than their hygiene, fashion, etc.
I've never experienced the feelings of a woman first-hand, so I can't say for sure, however, I think many women enjoy the feeling of beauty more than men, and I think even good looking men are forced to accept that most people will not celebrate them for their looks alone. Society demands much more from men.
Girls originally, but social media has turned guys almost equally as insecure.
@Blake0048 not necessarily just that. For instance when a lot of guys scroll through Instagram they most likely come across a whole lot of guys with extremely muscular bodies (often to a point that females aren't attracted to at all actually), and they always compare themselves to them, doesn't have to do with what females want but rather it's the competition in biggest muscles & lowest body fat between males, females opinion and preference aren't even involved in it.
I think that girls care a lot about their image. When they are just a little imperfect, they will feel the need to change, but girls you don't need to do this. BE WHO YOU ARE AND BE PROUD OF IT!!!
girls can be the most insecure when it comes to look
Girls hand down. We all get insecure. But IV seen a lot of girls have soul crushing issues with them selves and they were all so much more attractive than me.
Girls easily. I see all my hot friends photoshopping their pictures before uploading them. Even though they're constantly hit on by guys, they still aren't secure with their self image.
It's a foregone conclusion that it's us girls, me included.
Sadly both. Take a deep breath people, and try to relax. A person who loves you when you look like shit, is worth keeping around! 😉
Women
.. because it seems to be mostly females who turn to plastic surgery to enhance or improve parts of their body that they feel insecure about. Women use push up bras, corsets etc etc to change their appearance.
I think most people insecure about themself?
although there is some people who confident since they're born which is a special cases.
although people insecure about their physique, it's not really matter anyway? it help you grow as a person?
Well I see much more question about does size matter from guys than girls, this is kinda shallow
I think girls but girls keep it hidden more.
Guys dont care as much but they are more open about it. so it can go both ways
I think girls worry more about:
looks- 75%
Tits- 50%
Pussy- 10%
Body- 25%
Guys:
Dick- 90%
Body- 5%
Looks- 5%
Just throwing % of people lol
girls-
80% body (includes tits, everything)
20% face
ur right about guys tho. ps ur girl %s dont add up to 100 lol
oh hahaha
@Agent oh rlly? but there's soo many questions on GAG from guys asking if their size is ok. and i didn't realize that height was worried about that much but i guess it makes sense because height is hellaaaa important. and yeah face is real important too but for me, youd have to be REALLLYY ugly for me to not go out with u, especially with a good body
everyone has diff insecurities i suppose
@michellebrown48 Yeah, ultimately, everyone has diff securities. My dick size is above average (approximately 7 inches) so in my case, I rarely even think about it. And as for height, it's mainly due to girls talking about how they like tall guys so much. So if they're short, they can't really change that and they'll be worried. Guess that could be applied to dicks too, but it's not like dicks are on display 24/7 like the rest of the factors are. If a guy goes outside and sees buff guys wearing tight ass shirts or taking their shirt off and attracting a lot of female attention due to how good their bodies look, they kind of get jealous. That's why I gave body the highest %.
@Agent yeah true. a guy with a smaller dick is gonna worry about it more. a scrawny guy is going to care about his body more. a short dude is gonna be more insecure about his height, etc etc. wow thanks for the insight!
Girls! Me I know who and what. I am I know I'm chubby but I'm working on it. I do it for me, I really don't give a damn what what people think.
Girls have many insecurities. It could be their nose, the way their face look, their chin, their forehead and the list goes on while guys have probably like one or 2 insecurities. Most likely their height or dick size
Girls are always reassured by their looks by other guys the girls who complain just want attention guys constantly think about their dick size and their weight
When the truth is unless you’re morbidly obese it doesn’t matter
I'm pretty worried about mine but I've always found girls that are pretty still very insecure
I’d say girls. Of course guys are insecure too but I think it’s worse for girls
It's girls who are more insecure but guys post more ( that's my thought )
Before joining G@G, I used to think it was girls... now, I'm not so sure.
I tend to think guys. Girls obsess about very cosmetic things, guys obsess about things that can't be changed, even with surgery.
there’s no certain gender that feels the most of something , it depends on the individual
Girls, clearly.
Guys usually cares about their appearance if they know someone else will care about it. If not, they'll just grab some comfy clothes and put them on.
This site showed me that guys are more insecure, especially about their size and height
Not me. I am okay with my size and height.
Girls for sure... It amazes me how a lot of guys are totally oblivious to how they look.
who is shoving buckets of chemicals on their faces to look like kardashians?
If you answer this question, you hve the answer to your question
I've notice girls are a taaaad bit more insecure with the looks.
I'd say guys are. Women are more vocal about their insecurities, sure, but they also lack the tendency to make it everyone else's problem.
Also worth noting, the only reason guys aren't as vocal is because complaining generally gets men labelled as "pussies" and then they get beat up. lol
Since the rise of social media and particularly tinder I think it's about even now. I'm not sure if they're all insecure though a lot just want reassurance that they can't find in real life.
I should probably say guys that use tinder.
Truthfully I'm petty shy and not that confident with my body but girls are the same way. Guys just don't say anything about it
The same but women are more vocal about it
Sadly, i believe Girls are self cautious about their looks.
It's not gender specific, people who are obsessed with looking good are the ones most insecure about it...
I think both feel as insecure as each other, but the media & fashion industry has made things more public for girls
both equally. but men don't make it a thing in public so often :D
Could it be because men hide their emotions?
@elladegiorgio14 that's the exact reason. Men are taught to not show weakness or else you'll be seen as a pussy. Of course men have all the emotional bullshit that women go through. They are just frowned upon for showing it.
@genericname85 it's a shame because we are all human so we all have emotions.
@elladegiorgio14 well women are frowned upon for expressing and living their sexuality... I don't know why we limit our emotional capacity in society.
@genericname85 but not all women like to show emotions. For example I try not.
I don't think its a gender thing, more a personality thing.
The ones who spend all day in the bathroom fixing them.
I wouldn't say this a gender specific subject.
Both genders experience things in life that will cause them too become insecure about their looks.
