Except many girls need encouragement to drink. Just last week I had to persuade a female friend of mine we were hanging out with to get a shot of vodka. Afterwards she was a lot more open and friendly, and she knew her company would be better, but for some reason she had an aversion to drinking. Additionally, "can I buy you something" is a good icebreaker. Hello, can I buy you something, yes sure, so what do you drink, so you drink rosé, I like heavier stuff myself, do you drink whiskey, yes, I do sometimes, a relative actually makes it, sure, interesting, what's your name anyway, don't you want to sit down somewhere etc...
Sure it's cliché, but it works in some occasions, if the girl is receptive.
If she had no interest in him, she should decline the drinks. Having him buy her drinks all night knowing she has no intent of seeing him after that is a bitch move.
True, but the implication is that by accepting his drink, you are accepting his advances. Would you accept a guy's physical advances if you weren't interested in getting to know him better?
I don't think my view has changed at all. "If we are getting along" indicates our interest is reciprocal, not one-sided. In that case, I don't mind buying additional rounds.
I get you, but if you're "Getting along" and you continue to offer to buy her drinks all night... if she has no intention of ever giving you her number... even tho you're both enjoying the conversation...
I see your point. There's some gray area there. But if you're the girl in that situation, you should offer (or insist) to buy alternating rounds. You still have great conversation without leading him to believe you have interest beyond that evening. It's just common courtesy.

I never buy drinks to girls I’m about to hit. I wish if only guys would stop that "cheesy" practice.
Scary
I think it’s foolish to by girls drinks period. If she digs u she’ll hook up with u for free.
LOL ok.

sycophantic, transparent, never done it and never will.
I agree with @dolemite68
Ok then
Women should never pay for a man's drink. If a man is around and wants to conversate then he should pay and make sure she don't drink too excessively
If she drinks on his tab all night, she owes him her number if he asks for it
I agree
@thevampire_queen Thank you
@CT_CD you're welcome
That's like the oldest trick in the book. A classy gesture.
is the update classy on the girl's part?
If he offers. No shame in accepting drinks.
interesting.
It's an icebreaker that shows his interest in her. What's the issue?
So are you in camp "one drink only"?
Not sure exactly what you mean, but if we are getting along, I'm not averse to buying another round or two.
OK so the debate seems to be - is it OK for her to let him buy her drinks ALL NIGHT knowing that she has no intention of him getting her phone number.

But he's offering - she's not asking.

Its just food for thought. And see how you're changing your view from your original answer?
I'm not saying either side is right or wrong. I just want to see what other people have to say about it.

if she buys me a drink
then I'd be like
are you feeling alright hun?
Waste of money but if someone offers you a free drink, why not?
If he wants to buy and she wants to drink then nobody should expect more.
Face it, he's looking to get laid.
maybe. so should she accept free drinks all night if she has no intention toward getting laid?
@cheergirl38138 sure, why not
not everyone feels that way. Im on the fence personally.
I think it’s fun
LOL.
You're going straight to Hades. 😂
