How to get through to a dense guy?

I hang out and study with this guy a lot at college. He's never had a girlfriend before or kissed a girl. He's a real weirdo, probably has adhd, but I really like him. I tried asking him to go to local restaurants but he said that he couldn't pay for himself. I compliment him a lot & ask him lots of questions, and smile at him with 'the look'. Whenever I ask to hangout or study he always says yes, and we talk and laugh for hours. But it seems like he straight up doesn't notice them because he seems like he lives in his own world & doesn't pay attention to other stuff. I am not sure how else to get through to him. Should I just corner him and kiss him out of nowhere?

has a dense guy myself, i have to warn you that going out of nowhere can backfire hard.
it is confusing if a girl you know and you think she doesn't feel anything for you sudently jumps on you and starts kissing you.
similar goes for just saying something like "i like you, have a date with me" out of the blue, it can interpreted has "i like you has a friend" at best or has a joke a worse depending on his self sterm.
my recomendation? going trought a blockhead like us is dificult because you have to go by "layers" first giving him the notice that you like him, them making him understand is romantic instead of platonic and lastly making him understand you are being serious instead of jocking.
the best you can do is take one of those talks that last hours with him and make it your explicit goal to make sure he knows and understand how you feel about him.
that or drop hints and hope he doesn't take a decade to connect the dots and say to himself "holy shit, so that's why she wanted a coffe at 2am" in the shower one morning.
and of course, patient, guys like us are slow to process this kind of information, lol

I used to be him.

My first girlfriend gave me a watch for my birthday and I still didn't get it.

I have ADD - but that's not why I didn't notice. I just didn't believe anyone could like me that way.

Be direct.

DON'T blindside him with a kiss, but tell him you want to kiss him.

No matter what, DON'T tell him you want to go further than that physically. Try kissing and just take it slow.

He notices. There's other reasons (only he can say what). Like maybe he's shy or something? If he has no money, he won't want to ask you out because he has no money lol. Yes, kiss him, or directly tell him you like him. Guys are direct, so that's what we respond to, so you have to be direct, not hint or be subtle.

People like him, that have expansive and wandering minds, tend to have trouble picking up messages and signals like that. You’ve just gotta be blunt. Go for the kiss on the cheek and ask him to date you.
