Should I Send him a 'Merry Christmas' text, or just wait and see if he is going to send one to me first?

We go to school, work at the same place, and are in the same major/classes. I've had more than one person tell me that they think he likes me. When we're at school we're talking whenever we see each other, and it's usually very sarcastic, playful, and flirty; we get along well, and we make each other laugh constantly. We'll Snapchat each other and text on occasion, but nothing huge; most of our interactions are in-person, and this past semester we would see each other daily.

That being said, he wouldn't always respond to the Snapchats that I sent him, and I'm running into a similar problem now; for as much as we talk at school, and as much as we're around each other, when we're home for the holidays we rarely talk to one another. I'm finding right now that he isn't responding to my Snapchats; I've sent him two over the past couple weeks and got no response, which does happen when we're at school. I don't want to bother him, seem desperate, or annoying by continuing to send him things without getting a response.

However, I also don't want him to think that I don't like him enough to not send him something. He would respond if I sent him something, which I would probably send in as a text so it would be more personal, just because it is a holiday. But like I said, I want to see if he'll send me something first; should I wait and see if he does? And if he hasn't by later on tonight, should I just send him a text, or leave it be? I know it's somewhat convoluted but I'm worried that I'm bothering him, and seeming annoying.
