What does it mean when a girl approaches you out of the blue?

I'm waiting in the room waiting for class to start, girl 1 is talking to another guy (she knows for some time) and she sees me from her corner of her eye but does nothing. Then girl 2 appears and starts talking to me (I know girl 2 for some time and we're friends) and we make jokes. All of a sudden girl 1 comes toward us (leaves the guy) and makes a joke and then leaves a few seconds later. We weren't talking bad about girl 1 and there wasn't anything necesary for girl 1 to approach us. What's her deal?

I've been approached by women in bars from the blue a few times... one time I was so excited i started a conversation and had a really great time chatting with this lovely lady... she asked me to come back again sometime for something more... whatever that means... perhaps a date with her? cool!!
