I get called pretty beautiful etc by men and I always think to myself are they’re serious? , do men lie sometimes to try and get the woman’s number or over exaggerate things. Is that just a pick up line for them to try and get into your pants?

It depends on the guy. A lot of guys can't let anyone down so they will tell you what you want to hear or say nothing.

Then a lot of guys are brutally honest.

Then there's guys who are just annoyed about how much girls complain about their looks, they give an honest answer but they end up looking like the dude who can't let anyone down.

Sometimes but very rarely. Generally speaking, if he is saying it, then he thinks it. Unless the situation was one where she like passive-aggressively essentially made him have say it, or something. Like if she stupidly actually ASKED him if he thought she was beautiful, then basically he has to say yes, even if she isn't.

Exaggeration can be a way to express yourself. "To the stars"... you're probably an attractive woman. Start believing that! As for trying to get in your pants, every relationship will eventually want that. You decide when is too soon based on your desires.
