Was he hinting something or normal talk?

we were texting in a group chat and then it became a 1 on 1 convo between my guy friend and I. anyways, I was talking about how I don't know much about cars and how my stepdad had to teach me how to check things on cars but I didn't retain much from it. And he goes "so that means there's not point in teaching my daughter how to fix a car right?"

He's made "future wife" references like that with me too. like once I was talking about how houses are better to rent than apartments and he goes "I'm going to rent a house and live with my wife and kids".

Is he trying to hint something? by the way he's never had a girlfriend or dated. and he doesn't have a wife or kids lol (in case anyone is confused by that). I've also seen signs that he may be interested in me? He's an introvert but not shy so I feel like he doesn't make his hints too obvious?
