Whats the best way to randomly talk to a girl whos with a guy, and you dont know if they're dating?

I saw a really pretty girl at a bookstore today.
I saw she was taking a insta like picture.. but she seemed to be w her dad or older guy of some kind. I tried to go 'bump into her' but by the time i got the nerve, she was in line to pay.
I didn't want to be intrusive, but man she was pretty.

I was thinking of going all out and just saying "hi, are you an influencer for books?" Or "hello, you're really pretty, can i have your number."

How could I have handled this?

You should have just walk up to her and say "hi, I just had to tell you that I think you are so beautiful ". Mention what you thought was pretty about her. Get the conversation going and ask her for her number.

Well her hair was really nice but her whole body was insane. And she was wearing a super short dress.. maybe she was a model I don't know.. didn't see her tag the bookstore in anything
