How do I approach my university classmate?

I'm new at uni and there's a guy I like. He's from a different country and he talks only to male people from there. I don't think that's a snobbish attitude cause I'm pretty sure he's shy to talk to the rest of us (the rest of his compatriots do this as well).

These days I've tried sitting close to him, but didn't find the courage to introduce myself and start a conversation. There are so many people and I'm afraid he won't give me enough attention. He might also feel that the fact I'm trying to approach him is quite strange. I asked my friends' help and said they'll be next to me when I talk to him, but we still can't find any really good excuse to grab his attention... They recommended that I drop a pen on his back, but that's kinda cringe!!! 🤣🤧😃

How do I approach him in a natural way? Any ideas?

Try to remember that it is not you or anyone else for that matter. They are intimidated and a little insecure which makes perfect sense for this guy. First thing to do is not to get impatient. Keep a happy smile and soft eyes even if he does not respond. Make sure you give him yours and get his name-there's a reason for that. 2. Ask open ended questions like what did you do for summer? Describe your favorite memory or Like about home... you follow that line too and suggest yours. 3. Be patience and do not emit stressful energy if there are gaps or slow answer. 4. Talk less and listen more without pressure.

It sounds like you two are in the same class. Ask him an open ended question even if you know the answer. Just make something up. He sounds like a hard case to crack. It might take a few tries. Good luck.

Because girls normally never have and normally never will approach a guy, it seems to be in a woman's DNA or genetics to refuse to approach a guy or to make a move on a guy
