I thought of complimenting her smile because she has one of those that go from ear to ear and I noticed she kind of shrinks her eyes when she smiles and I think that's really cute. Speaking strictly for myself (but I know many other girls who do so), complimenting someone cannot start a conversation. She may be flattered but at most she will say thank you and leave it like that.
Mention something cool and interesting instead. Start a conversation, mention the wedding if you want, but do not start with compliments.
